I can’t decide what is more likely: this is true or Avenatti was frustrated by not having his name in headlines for a few days. I suppose those aren’t mutually exclusive.

Whatever you think about Avenatti, I’m not surprised at all that he was also targeted - and that is according to the FBI (I don’t think he’d lie about that).
It’s an open question though whether “targeted” means a bomb was mailed, or that he was 113th on some list.
I’m guessing it’s the latter, and @boisdevache is correct that he needed to get his name back in the news.

What Avenatti almost undoubtedly means is that he was one of more than a hundred people on the MAGABomber’s list. The intentional, false, and attention-whoring implication is that he was “targeted” with an actual bomb.
Okay. I was wrong and Avenatti is turning out to be a dish best served only infrequently.
