Discussion: Avenatti Charged With Attempting To Extort $20M From Nike

I can’t think of very many better examples of the warning not to build statues of the living.

Not saying this guy was all that mighty, but boy has he fallen.

Man this will put a crimp in his Presidential run

Seems so easy for prosecutors to charge other people but for some it seems almost impossible.

From other websites it seems he is being charged with trying to get Nike to make a settlement or else he would go public with claims… Not entirely sure that is illegal.

Correct me if iam wrong, but is it not common for companies to make settlements in order to keep shit from going public.

How so? The Trump Crime Family™ didn’t seem to be an impediment. He should run as a Republican.

I was thinking it would enhance it – give him more of the credentials our current leader has.

Politically motivated prosecution? National Enquiring minds want to know…

Happens day after Barr’s letter is released.

Nawwww…

I think it depends on whether he had a reasonable basis for thinking his claims might fly.

Usually, there’s a lawsuit first.

IF what CNBC is reporting, it was “pay up or we’ll go public” – which is extortion.

This character was always a concern for me, he’s as swampy as tRump. Only difference is he does not have an entire Justice department and Senate to protect him

Should be a cautionary tale about choosing champions carefully.

My thought exactly.

Just to throw out there that a drump appointee is the one who is charging him.

Sounds like he’s now qualified to primary Trump!

Meh, maybe, but once again, if this is enough to get a charge then why the fuck isn’t the entire WH in jail?

Payback time?

Let the real witch hunt begin, don’t be surprised at the number of Trump toadies in the DOJ at all levels…

Because AG Barr holds the legal theory that Presidents are immune from things like that.

Current DOJ regulations and the protection of Mike Pence’s god.

Maybe wait until more information is in the public domain? (I believe there’s a press conference scheduled for this afternoon.)

Avenatti singlehandedly put Barf Kavanaugh on the Surpreme Court with his ill timed and OTT (and it appears, fake) allegations that KAV was running a rape ring in high school. It was so OT that it allowed Republicans to pivit and confirm Barf.

Given this, I hope that Avenatti spends the rest of his life in jail being a punk for some dude from Deliverance.

Avenatti was the Democratic equivalent to Trump, and we should all cheer that he is going down.
