Honest Question: Has Allred ever tried and won any of these recent cases she jumps into? It seems from the public persona, her name seems to get settlements. So, it feels like here, no easy settlement, gonna have to actually work and try the case so she’s out.
Gloria Allred seems like certain bad PR for anyone pursuing a legal case.
Her law firm is professional, excellent attorneys, always well prepared in court. Settlements save an enormous amount of judicial time. There is nothing wrong about settling.
I wasn’t saying there was anything wrong with settling in and of itself. It just seems like she often rides in on the cases with the biggest PR value, and then we hear nothing more. Just struck me as odd.
Clients pursue Allred, she doesn’t chase them down. The bad PR she might get is because she’s doing unladylike things in advocating for same sex marriage and gay causes and women abused and battered by men. Mostly she gets slammed because she dares to be a woman while doing these things.
She was ready to take trumpp to court, question him under an oath and wait and see how many times he’d perjure himself.
GA is probably not the best litigator, so she decided to bail. If she’s mainly a PR person and a “face” of the victim, that part may be over and it’s now on to the tedious task of going to court. Not an odd thing, and it may be the correct professional move that best serves the client.
As with most well known firms, she surely has lower level lawyers do most of the work, including work in the courtroom. Allred seems to function more like a managing attorney and PR director than actually handling the litigation. Also, she is 76. Not too many lawyers that age still do anything, much less as much as she does. She was fairly clearly associated on this case by Mariann Wang, the original attorney to help get the case to this point, with Wang carrying it on to trial. I used to do office work for friends who represented a client in what became a somewhat famous civil trial. When the trial was coming up, they associated with a bigger name trial attorney because his presence would be intimidating to the defense. They had done almost all the discovery work and briefing before the trial, the leg work and a lot of direct and cross examination during the trial, and the wrap up after the trial. But he was technically first chair during the trial and got a lot more of the press than they did.
I know that ambulance chasers rarely goes to trial, it’s easier and cheaper for everybody to settle.
Was wondering how long it would take before a knee-jerk claim that Gloria Allred is a victim of sexism. No, Allred receives so much criticism because she is a self-promoting publicity hound. She calls news conferences, and then weirdly infantilizes her female clients by literally holding their hands and hugging them.
I saw Allred on TV the other night and she seemed uncomfortable dodging questions about her specific client’s case–something she had to dodge. It could be that at this point in her career she likes the talking head appearance fees more than she actually likes working with living breathing clients.
I see that most of the work is being done by a different lawyer anyway. Probably a good split for all concerned.
Allred acts as aggressively as does in defending female clients because she herself was raped years ago and could find no justice. She doesn’t talk about it and shouldn’t have to, but that’s part of it. But I’ll be happy to get today’s Internet award for pointing out that sexism exists.

Or maybe she was just trying build a client base in the most effective way she knew how and without the support of the existing network of the Gentile old boys with white shoes network.
I always thought of her as a publicity chaser myself. But I watched the Netflix doc and changed my opinion 100%.
