Discussion: At Rowdy Congressional Town Halls, Trump's Military Moves Fly Way Under The Radar

Betcha the head of steam on Drumpfie’s warpaint and posturing will have built considerable by the next round of town halls… Especially because he seems to think this is a role he likes. Pathetic and dangerous.

So, Yoho supports surgical bombing. When did bombing become surgery? Surgeons usually use anesthesia – do we put these patients out before we bomb them?

The strikes on Syria were theater … absolutely useless. The real target was Trump’s cratering approval ratings. The Russians and Syrians were notified and skedaddled. There is no war, Trump and his clan will not benefit financially from war … only the threat of it.

Uh, well, just about everyone in this country has no idea that we’re still at war in Afghanistan.

Just about everyone in this country thinks we withdrew all military personnel from Iraq and who’s left is just there for the sunshine.

People stopped about caring about the first decade of our Thirty Years War a looooog time ago.

That’s why.

Deflection Donnie, the pride of the military - industrial complex.

Tomahawk Missiles = $1.4 million each x 60 = $84 million

Syrian / Russian aircraft flying from “Tomahawked” airfield two days later. Priceless.

An FBI investigation of Trump’s ties with Russia apparently is flying below radar now.

People need to decide what level of atrocities they’ll accept before they would support intervention. Start with the holocaust and work backwards. “America First” was the original non-interventionist slogan and America endured an intense debate from '39-'41 while bombs fell on London.

More like 'Welcome to Humanity". Remember: by and large, human beings form significant attachment and empathetic connection to less than 250 other human beings. Principle and morality only go so far with most. By and large, humanity is more than happy to ignore anything that can be labeled ‘Somebody Else’s Problem’.

It’s also a great way to make a bistromathic spaceship invisible.

Good. That’s how investigations of this nature should be done. The only folks who want every little detail commented on and the whole thing fast-tracked are those who are impatient and want to lose.

Since the end of the draft our government has worked hard to disconnect military action from the lives of most Americans. Less than 2% of Americans serve in the military these days. Foreign policy is abstract, almost alien, for most Americans.

I think I recall that the disconnect was part of some Chaney/Rove Grand Design. Unless I miss my guess, the 2% who serve are maintained in “us vs the world status” by keeping all the on-base TVs on Fox news 24/7.

Sen. Bob Casey is NOT a big thinker, that is quite clear. I attended a fundraiser for him in President Obama’s first term where he had lots of glowing terms for GOP ideas and colleagues. He seemed spooked after the 2010 midterms and was beyond squishy. I wanted to buy him a spine.

Am I the only one to think that the real reason for bombing Syria was to try and take focus off of his collusion with Russia? Now with all of the other things going on with his tax returns and health care etc., seems that’s being used as a distraction away from the shit he’s pulling with North Korea.

People will focus on Don the Con’s military actions if he deploys thousands of troops to places like Syria without Congressional authorization.

The missile attack on Syria was totally ineffective except the part where it made trump look “presidential”. We don’t even know who did the chemical attack (which, if Assad was responsible, would appear to have been counter productive from multiple standpoints).

We do know that the air base that was bombed had ample warning that the missiles were on the way, and the attack can easily be seen as having benefited Russia and Trump. If one looks at it in the right manner, it may even have benefited Assad (like if the Russians told him that having his airbase bombed would be required of him to have their continued support).

Why would Feinstein fail to mention that the missiles failed to keep the airbase non operational for even 24 hours? I mean…how’d they miss the runways with satellite targeting and all those missiles? As an aside…why is being gassed worse than being killed by a barrel bomb? Seems like Benedict Trumpkin could get choked up by images of dead Syrian babies and day of the week: https://static.independent.co.uk/s3fs-public/thumbnails/image/2015/09/02/13/syrian-migrant-boy-turkey.jpg

“Surgical bombing” makes sense only if you perform surgery with hammers.

Never has so much money and so many missiles been thrown at so little a target and done so little damage. This was staged!
