Dear 2016,
Go FUCK YOURSELF!
Sincerely,
World
A great man who led a remarkable and accomplished life. Condolences to his family.
RIP John. You were one of the good ones. Thanks for everything.
Godspeed John Glenn.
Trump will have to tweet something suitably crude and stupid about John Glenn’s death.
A true American hero. He will be remembered for centuries to come.
I lived for 20 some years in Ohio and was proud to have him as my senator. He was a decent and kind man. RIP and condolences to his family. GodSpeed John Glen.
I was three years old when John Glen circled the earth in his space capsule. Then I spent my youth watching the Mercury and Apollo missions on a fuzzy old black and white TV that ended with an American Astronaut landing on the moon.
It made me so proud. Like America was number one at everything. That is what John Glenn made possable.I feel bad sometimes that today’s young people have never had that same feeling.
2016 needs to fuck itself with a very large very spiky cactus.
2016 is just a miserable year all around.
Sad news about John Glenn
An honorable man has passed. What a great life of service!
2016 SUCKS.
RIP Mr. Glenn.
One of the very few humans to actually see our planet from off planet, I imagine that was a perspective changing moment for him and hope it’s one that more people, myself included, can one day see for ourselves, not through a picture or a video, but for real. Carl Sagan said it best:
It has been said that astronomy is a humbling and character-building experience. There is perhaps no better demonstration of the folly of human conceits than this distant image of our tiny world. To me, it underscores our responsibility to deal more kindly with one another, and to preserve and cherish the pale blue dot, the only home we’ve ever known.
Not everyone is inclined towards kindness or preserving our planet, but those of us that are need to work until everyone is.
Trump would probably confuse his space career with the Challenger explosion.
The word “hero” is easily thrown around and pinned on a lot of people who do not deserve it. To me heroes are few in number. Johnny Flinn for example would never call himself one yet he manned a machine gun during the Pearl Harbor attack despite being wounded SIX times. He rightly won the Medal of Honor. He said “I don’t wear it for me. I wear it for those guys who deserved it but instead got dead.”
The word “hero” has been cheapened.
But not when applied to John Glenn. No indeed.
God Speed John Glenn
Knowledge and skill, discipline, resourcefulness, courage. Godspeed, John Glenn.
Oo-Rah!
Hale, goodbye, and farewell, American hero.
You are the BEST, John, the absolute best. Thank you.
My condolences to your family. Godspeed.
