Fox News is running the headline “Trump blasts Mueller probe, Putin denies meddling as leaders dub summit as ‘success’” While at the same time attacking Obama, Clinton and most concerning pushing the #walkaway bullcrap that came from Putin’s very own Russian trolls.
It’s decades past time for Dems and the Left to come up with a strategy to push back the conservative media machine!
Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying war against them, or in adhering to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort. No person shall be convicted of treason unless on the testimony of two witnesses to the same overt act, or on confession in open court.
Well, at least we now know why Trump and Putin were so keen to meet alone. Did the two translators stay in the room?
That’s been a challenge, no doubt. But this monologue had that driven, obsessive quality you get when a person’s sick with fear and keeps repeating some feeble excuse to him- or herself over and over. It’s just infantile finger pointing, she did it, punish her, I didn’t do anything, on and on. And literally on a world stage. It’s hard to see it as calculated or conceivably helpful.
They’d better hear from more of their constituents. I keep thinking of all the men and women who fought and died for this country here, and abroad, so that we could enjoy the freedoms we have (even though some are disappearing at present).
It makes me so sad, sickto my stomach, and very, very angry. What a slap in the face to their sacrifice.
That machine on the left is called reality. Unfortunately, reality has scant effect on tribalism and cults. We can only hope that outrage becomes contagious when it is time to actually vote.
I twitter followed or watched most of this press conference. I got what I expected from Trump. He knows nothing other than the few talking points he has developed. He often runs into deer in headlights moments and either talks nonsense or makes inappropriate statements because he has no real time sense of what is normal for a human being. He’s a narcissist. He has no moral core. Everything his relative. The statement he made at the end attacking our intel, going after the conspiracy theory about DNC servers, and stating his belief in Putin were all things he has said before. His mistake was saying them in front of a live tv audience in response to a direct question. I’ve had texts from friends and read tweets from others that I follow who are expressing shock and alarm in a way that HRC supporters have been for years. Trump really f’ed this up.
The very interesting thing to me was Putin’s responses. He was far more defensive than I expected. He repeated the arguments that Veselnitskaya made against Browder at the TT meeting and spent a lot of time on election interference, denying it in a very defensive manner. Mueller got inside Putin’s head more than I expected. Instead of pushing Trump for big policy changes, Putin was left to fight a battle with USIC, one which he cannot win in the eyes of the world. Rather than take credit for successfully duping the US into electing a Manchurian President, he expressed vulnerability. This was a big win for Mueller and the USIC.
The next step is for Mueller to double down, indict US persons, indict more Russians, indict business entities. The next step for USIC is to troll Putin, start showing how much we know, troll Trump and his associates and tie them in knots.
Considering how clear the “Russian Meddling” picture is becoming, it’s actually Trump who is displaying “extremely strong and powerful” denial…
That doesn’t make it go away. Nor does a show of unity between these two. The ways Putin looks at Trump, and the way Trump can’t quite look him in the eye screams “Kompromat!” to me.
I’m still stunned that Trump was allowed to sit down one on one with Putin, in a private, off the record meeting. Given all the circumstances, that is about as inappropriate as it could possibly get. He’s an elected public servant, not a goddamned king!!
It is important to note that the quest for understanding Trump-Russia and the power that Putin clearly exercises over Trump is not just a matter of investigating what happened in 2016. The collusion has been ongoing. Any interaction between Trump and Putin from 2017 onwards–and it seems that they have had many–could and no doubt did contain collusive elements that we’re unaware of but that Putin will have a record of. The pee-pee tape is ancient, trifling history compared to the subsequent blackmail materials Russia will have gathered.
