At times, the white expert seemed exasperated at having to explain to Native Americans what was a racial slur and what was not. âLook, I can explain it to them, but itâs real time-consuming, and I have a lot of other stuff to do,â she said.

What I want to be hearing from Democrats right now: We will work our tails off explaining to the voters just what we stand for and that we are keeping lists of everything Trump and the Republicans are doing to our nation â and when we are in the majority once again after 2018 (and even possibly the White House shortly thereafter), we will swiftly undo everything that is damaging to our nation, our economy, our environment, our people, our children ⌠by executive action where possible and legislatively elsewhere. We also pledge to try and undo every single judicial appointment, as well as any and all other appointments we deem too out of the mainstream. We recognize the Republicans acted with nothing else in consideration but power for the sake of power and to tilt the playing field heavily in favor of those Americansâand corporationsâwith already bountiful assets ⌠at the expense of those in the middle and those at the very bottom who can least afford it. This has to end. America needs to wake up from this nightmare and begin to regain her morals, to work for all of us, to get back on that road where we work to move ahead. Say âNOâ to this attempt at creating another Guilded Age.
From here on, Democrats need to transmit this message to our people and those in the middle who are willing to listen to reason â and there seems to be more of them lately. Strike now, while the iron is hot and we have their attention. Be clear, concise and, above all, confident we believe in our message.
Also: When these other distractions come up, sex scandals, etc., be fair but be swift in dealing with them. We need to quickly come to a consensus on how we believe we should handle various situations. We need to be cleaning our house in a way that takes into account the severity of the deeds, how far-reaching it is, as consistent across the board as possible â as well as taking into consideration (lastly) whether or not weâre cutting off our toes to spite our feet.

The Republican septic system cannot contain it. The overflow into the drainage field has now expanded to befoul the entire country. It is a waste of time to appeal to any Republican. The Democratâs plumbing is also full of holes. The infectious tribalism that is being cultured by ignorance, selfishness, outright evil, and unbridled madness promises to discard all of the time-tested principles that underlay this once vibrant, though imperfect, last best hope for inclusive democracy. Nothing but the piping of new ideas from independent parties that bridge our divisions can save this nation now.
