Discussion: As Puerto Rico Reels, Trump Fixates On Island's 'Tremendous' Debt

Did you ever for a second believed otherwise?

Yeah, but Manhattan has river water to help make it an island. I’m talking BIG water, ocean water - on many sides, on many sides.

tRump doesn’t care about people suffering and dying. He finds it icky. Really. I read this yesterday and was totally disgusted with his insane lack of compassion. Beyond that, he didn’t even have the human decency to get a bleeding man that was right in front of him the help he needed. He’s fucking unfit to be in office in charge of anything, let alone a major catastrophe involving matters of life and death.

I hope if and when a weather related disaster occurs at a Trump property say Mar a Lago which has FEMA flood insurance the claims are slowed at a snails pace. Or someone says “We don’t have the money right now” The contractors take their sweet time just to watch him turn orange. Like that old ad with the clerk behind the desk “any day now…”

Can we just let Trump take a shit on the U.S. Constitution, and be done with it?

“and what we will do with the tremendous amount of existing debt already on the island"

And if anyone knows anything about tremendous debt, it’s Donald Trump. Believe me.

Yup, take it from an expert on the subject:

This is Trump setting up his excuse to let people die in PR. He started it 5 days ago when he said the infrastructure was so much worse than Texas and FL. He doesn’t give a rat’s ass about the people there. He will say the reason the response is so bad is PR is so terrible. Helicopters don’t need that much infrastructure to drop food and water in areas where they have none. I just noticed on the news that people are only “allowed” to “buy” 3 gallons of water. Where are they supposed to get money to pay for water?? He’s killing brown people. He’s probably happy about that.

In his case peeing is more likely to occur.

“This is an island surrounded by water, big water, ocean water,” Trump said at the start of a speech to the National Association of Manufacturers on his proposed tax overhaul.
…
Water is no fucking excuse.
June the 6th, 1944 D-Day happened. At nearly the same time we did sea based landings in Italy and in the pacific. Yes it was war time but goddamit people. if we can pull off multiple sea based landings in widely far flung place in the same month almost 80 years ago we should be goddam well capable of spreading aid to our own citizenry close to our mainland shores today. This should be mortifying to trump. But he doesn’t care. At all.
edit
If Air Force one lands there with you on it, donnie, then there’s no excuse you cannot get aid to those who need it

I was born in Hawai’i, like a few others here. While I live on the mainland in the midwest now, I still have a bond and affection to Hawai’i.

When Preshitdent Dotard talks about Puerto Rico being surrounded by “big water, ocean water” it makes me wonder what he thinks that stuff surrounding Hawai’i is. If I were living in Hawai’i now, I’d be getting nervous about this asshat.

We now have reports of cholera in Puerto Rico, and a clear attempt by Trump to absolve himself of responsibility. He’s doing it in the most dehumanizing of ways, delegitimizing PR’s rights as part of the US. This is gross malfeasance and I think it’s safe to say that by western standards we have a humanitarian disaster on our hands.

This is impeachable on its face. Democrats should demand resignation of cabinet officials, Kelly and demand impeachment of Trump. Kelly has been an utter failure as CoS. If he can’t talk Trump into caring for PR, then really, wtf is he doing there?

Big decisions will have to be made as to the cost of its rebuilding!

Decisions about the cost? If my house burns down, I don’t get to “make (Big) decisions about the cost”. If I want to rebuild the house I had, it’s going to cost what the most economical contractor says it’s going to cost. Although I could decide to replace it with an outhouse and a tent, I suppose. Big Decision!

Wouldn’t it be fitting then if news outlets always referred to Trump thusly:

“Pres. Trump, whose many, many bankruptcies, willing collusion with foreign governments and complete lack of stability and honesty today railed/lashed/pouted/missed the point…”

“Ultimately the government of Puerto Rico will have to
work with us to determine how this massive rebuilding effort — it
will end up being one of the biggest ever — will be funded
and organized,” he said, “and what we will do with the tremendous amount of existing debt already on the island. "
…
Proof positive (if any is needed) that trump puts money ahead of his own countrymen and women.
