Discussion: As Many Players Planned To Skip Event, Trump Disinvites Eagles From WH

The national anthem has nothing to do with sports. This is another ridiculous ā€˜causeā€™ for the trumpsters. I was at an MLB baseball game last week and watched a guy frantically looking around and glaring at people who didnā€™t stand. Just stupid. Iā€™ve gone to hundreds of games and before the NFL players took this stance, Iā€™d noticed people chatting, texting, generally doing their own thing during the anthem yet now weā€™re all supposed to become automatons.

Disclaimer: I am a proud member of the Steeler Nation who is from Philly!

However, I found myself immensely proud to be cheering for and celebrating the Philadelphia Eaglesā€™ Super Bowl victory over the NE Patriots. It was a wonderful game. They did themselves and the city proud.

Politics has been in sports for a long time. Think Jesse Owens at the Munich Games when Hitler was in power. Every time Jesse and crew won, Adolf walked out. Donald Trump has made it his business to divide and denigrate, so be it. But actions have consequences. The Philadelphia Eagles are composed of a diverse group of men. They pay their taxes like anyone else and have a right to voice their opinions.

DJT has decided to make kneeling during the playing of the anthem a political football. He doesnā€™t give a flying fig for the real reason it is happening. From what Iā€™ve seen it looks as if only 10 people would be showing up. Not a lot of folks for a photo op.

Donnie Boy, this is what it boils down to. Not everyone is willing to kiss your fat ass. They have too much pride for that. These men worked hard for their victory. They didnā€™t need any cheating or favoritism to win. Won it fair and square. So to the Philadelphia Eagles, from a Steeler fan, I say RIGHT ON!

ā€œDisinviting them from the White House only proves that our President is not a true patriot, but a fragile egomaniac obsessed with crowd size and afraid of the embarrassment of throwing a party to which no one wants to attend,ā€ Kenney said.

Thatā€™s good, a dig at the inauguration !

Pity, Donald is shamelessā€¦

defensive end Chris Long was the most outspoken player against going.

For those that donā€™t know. This player also donated his entire 2017 salary to charities.

I had this discussion with a trumper last week, she bemoaned the fact that players were protesting (she didnā€™t what they were protesting) and stated that they should be required to stand. Then I stated that that is not freedom is all about.

That doesnā€™t mean that you are free from consequences (like Roseanne Barr), but unlike Barr, the players are not trying to divide, but. rather trying to right a wrong.

But the point remains, freedom means freedom, youā€™re not free if someone is telling you what to say. Boy, did I have her flummoxed.

That picture show inside your head is misleading you.
The true fact is:

Since when was the pledge of allegiance about honoring the troops? Thatā€™s a manufactured bunch of bull. Listen to the words. No mention of military or soldiers.

None of the Eagles took a knee during the anthem in 2017.

Nuff said. Lying liar lies again.

Dumpster fire in progress. Please stand back away from the flames to prevent any psychic injury. Gaslighting is hazardous to your health.

Proud lifelong member of Packer Nation here with good playoff reasons to not root for the Eagles. But I watched every minute of this Super Bowl cheering for Philly and bawled my eyes out in joy at the end. Great game, superb effort, fantastic win. That team is too good for this White House. Go to Congress, guys.

As per normal the White(s Only) Houseā€™s first reaction is to lie and say the team is ā€œunable to come,ā€ even though everybody and their dog knows they were disinvited due to yet another Trademark Tweety Temper Tantrum. Itā€™s analogous to executing someone and claiming they were ā€œunable to live.ā€

The weirdest thing though, I thought, is that the ā€œ1000 fans planning to attendā€ (a number surely pulled from Tweety the Tapewormā€™s Truth Tankā„¢ AKA his horse-sized ass) ā€œare still invited.ā€

What Eagles fan would attend an event originally intended to fete their favorite team where the team had been disinvited (read: disrespected, with bonus collective punishment)?

I have a feeling Marshall Tweeto will have to hire a bunch of actors to play ā€œfans,ā€ like he so often does at many other events. Sad.

Iā€™m looking forward to the follow-up press release that claims there were so many Philadelphia fans that they had to turn away hundreds of thousands of people.

I found a few players that might show up for tRumpā€™s photo op and honor to our National Anthem. Of course its also probably worth mentioning, he doesnā€™t know the words to the song if you recall. Sadly, I can report that I can only count them on one hand.

If any Eagles fans do attend Trumpā€™s military band event, when the National Anthem is played ā€¦ I hope a few take a knee.

White House legislative director Marc Short said in an appearance on CNN that he didnā€™t know who had canceled on whom, but said, ā€œItā€™s unfortunate when politics gets in the middle of this.ā€

Oh, for fuckā€™s sake, Marc, just stop it. Puh-lease.

Sure to be overheard at the event: ā€œLook at my African American over here! Are you the greatest?ā€

Domestic tiffs garner international interest:

Of course, players are not ā€œprotesting over the national anthemā€ but protesting during the national anthem. But one canā€™t expect the British to understand that. After all, they donā€™t regularly play the national anthem before their sporting events.

No propaganda operation by tRump would be complete without a full compliment of hired stand-ins. My guess is this more like a $25 gig instead of the usual $50 bucks he offers for most of his rallies. Good luck chumps trying to collect after youā€™ve paid your own way and bothered to show up.

He wants to punish black athletes for protesting against the inexcusable murder of black people by police, while at the same time wants to overlook human rights abuses by North Korea so he can have a photo op.
What a jagoff.

And collude with our militaryā€™s enemies.

Does it usually take this long to plan an event like this? It always seemed before Trump that whenever some sportsball team won some championship they had their White House celebration and photo op within a couple months. Itā€™s not that hard to plan and people look forward to a bit of fun and distraction.

Is it their usual incompetence and laziness, or were they trying to stall for time hoping the team owners would make the players fall in line?
