Discussion: As Hurricane Harvey Barreled Into Texas, Trump Made Major Moves Friday Night

A short knife for a vacationing Nazi, a sexually mollifying gift to a stalking Pence and stalling an old racist’s hoped for Latin Kings’ gang rape…all under a day’s hurricane. Golf, anyone?

"Sebastian Gorka did not resign, but I can confirm he no longer works at the White House,” the official said.

“In fact, he never really worked at the White House. He usually just hung around and got in the way.”

I dunno … it really seems to me that Kelly is just rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic. Yeah, he’s getting rid of a few people that should never have been there in the first place but the big honking iceberg is still there: Trump is still Trump.

Sure, let him waddle out and hit a ball around. He had a full day of society-destruction, I’m sure he needs to decompress.

“As what could be the most damaging storm to make landfall in the United States…”

The most-apt description of Trump’s presidency I have ever read.

Kudos, Mr. Shuham.

As I wrote a day or two ago, it seems that Trump’s bad behavior has accelerated under Kelly.
Don’t forget that Kelly already revealed himself to be a hardcore racist during his short tenure at DHS. He might even approve of the Arpaio pardon and Charlottesville speech.

Trump has a “talent” for finding the soft spots of our Democracy and the sociopath’s fondness for exploiting it. Nothing will stop him until we force him out.

If Republicans truly believe in the rule of law(doubtful), then the Arpaio pardon has to be unacceptable.

Y’all just don’t understand the reasons for things.

Brighteyes Bossert at the news conference:
##“The hurricane is an example of the principle of Federalism”
There will be a test later.
In fact, “tests” will continue until morale improves.

Trump very well seems to be pondering the horrors of facing jail time during the winter years of a person’s life.

“…citing an imminent presidential trip to Camp David. Instead, she answered reporters’ questions for about six minutes before leaving the Brady Press Briefing Room at 2:45 p.m. ET. She did not discuss any of the major White House news that was about to unfold.”

Sorry I read Brady Press Briefing Room as Badly Press Briefing Room, but hey 6 minutes for Q & A fits with Brief.

Arpaio´s pardon was telegraphed even before the Phoenix speech, the transgender ban was tweetted out some time ago, and Gorka had said that he was leaving the WH, albeit in a more voluntary narrative, earlier in the day.

This is ¨seismic news¨ that warrants this? :

As what could be the most damaging storm to make landfall in the United States in a decade crashed into Texas Friday night, Donald Trump announced a round of hugely consequential decisions that will likely characterize his presidency for months, if not years to come.

Are these stories more momentous than the withdrawal from the Paris climate accords? Or his defending neo-Nazis? How ´bout his bogus ¨ Election Integrity Commission¨? When he ends DACA. or the next outrage, will these acts still be the at the top of the list?

I think by the time Trump leaves office, clarifying that Gorka was fired and didn´t quit might be # #15,876 on the list of ¨seismic¨ decisions that Trump will have made.

With a better press system less focused on triviality and cheap imagery (storms) this particular bit of Petty Manipulation by the WH wouldn’t be much of an issue. But apparently we are getting the press we deserve that mostly covers tweets and twits — “a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.”

I see that Jared and his fam accompanied POTUS, FLOTUS and BARRONOTUS.

Donnie wants to learn from Jared how close he (Donnie) is to being indicted

I have to wonder how many people that were bused to safety really hate socialist policies?

Yeah. None of it was a surprise.

No she didn’t. She spent 6 minutes staring down and frowning while being asked questions, and NOT answering ANY of them. Only looking up with a dismissive response quickly calling on the next sucker…er reporter.

Great drinking game: before the press conference everyone writes down the gist of a typical non-answer, such as, “I haven’t discussed *it with him but if and when I do I’ll get back to you.” And all delivered with disdain, boredom and contempt and with a sourpuss face.

*It could be anything from, are we going to nuke North Korea tomorrow, or does the trump support puppies?

Winner takes a shot.
