Discussion: Arpaio Officially Charged With Criminal Contempt Amid Reelection Race

Coupled with the election he will soon lose, this is great news.

What will be the most delicious, however, is when he’s perp-walked out of the courtroom and into a Department of Corrections van.

Adios, pendejo payaso.

When i was in AZ in April and September, there were Sherrif Joe re-election signs all over the place. According to my family out there he’s fantastic and between Sheriff Joe and Trump they’re going to save the country.

I’m rather enjoying this and the polls showing AZ possibly going Blue.

Along with endless examples of dereliction of duty, a choice one being not sharing pertinent information to the local press (because he was outraged over an unflattering profile of him and the department) that a suspected child molester/kidnapper was on the loose in the county he is responsible for, Sheriff Joe Arpaio-of-shit is finally getting his just rewards.

Au revoir, auf wiedersehen, so long and bye-bye.

Arpaio Officially Charged With Criminal Contempt Amid Reelection Race

It’s about fucking time. However, I have to believe that the citizens of Maricopa County will reelect the bastard. If they haven’t thrown his racist ass out of office heretofore, this won’t change their minds.

Can’t get his old white ass in GENPOP soon enough.

Hope the savage and despicably petty SOB loses at the ballot box and the courtroom…and is given the place and uniform he deserves:

Sadly, as is the case with the few remaining Nazi war criminals, he probably won’t live long enough to see the inside of a cell. Happily, he’s 84, so there’s a limit to how much longer we’ll be burdened with him.

Calling this criminal a “lawman” is an insult to both the law and to men everywhere.

… and into gen. pop.

Arpaio has acknowledged violating U.S. District Judge Murray Snow’s order but insists his disobedience was not intentional.

WTF? The judge orders your Department to stop doing something. You (at a minimum) fail to issue an order to stop doing that, effective immediately. You fail to discipline minions who continue doing that.

How is that possibly anything but intentional? I’ll agree that it’s not overt, but unintentional? No effing way.

What’s the maximum penalty for civil contempt in Federal Court?

ETA: Answering my own question.
Fine or prison, generally not to exceed six months. If it exceeds six months, a jury trial is necessary. The size of the fine isn’t specified.

Arpaio certainly fits the profile.

Angry?
Elderly?
Cranky as hell?
Oblivious to reality?

Must be one of them there GOP’ers…

Lock him up…

$72 million to defend this scum. $1 million to compensate his victims. Hmm.

Arizona puts the wrong people in jail and puts the wrong people in charge of jail.

Jail Arpaio, finally!

Oh good lord. RETIRE Joe. It’s way past time. You are a cantankerous old man that has been playing your ‘I CARE about the border’ card way too long to the detriment of people in the country. Please just go.

Six months.

Arpaio could face up to six months in jail if convicted. A misdemeanor conviction would not bar Arpaio from serving as sheriff.

So how does that work…when the Sheriff is in jail?

An immigant’s son, he made his name going after immigrants. While most sherrifs actively avoid even the appearance of impropriety, he slithers with the slipperiest pols. A small government conservative, he has singlehandedly created two bureaucracies. One to keep him and his pecadilloes in orifice, and another to protect the people from them.

Ya know, I used to hold Sherrif Joe beneath contempt.

But i think the contempt charges fit him even better than his signature pink “tighty whities” :facepunch:
