There is not much of a welfare system left to abuse. Everything has been cut to the bone. Still conservatives like to use poor people as scapegoats, even thought the reasons for our fiscal problems have nothing to do with them.

Isnât Russell Pearce the AZ state sentaor who lost a recall election in 2011? Sure he is.
Isnât he also the guy who tried to get reelected to the AZ state senate in 2012 and failed at the primary level? Sure he is.
Why the AZ GOP deemed this loser worthy of a position on their executive board is a mystery. Oh, wait â itâs the AZ GOP â never mind.

Even if true, this still begs the question of why he thought it appropriate to share such remarks in the the first place. At least in the version provided by TPM, I note that he himself does not disavow those sentiments . . . thus implicitly answering that begged question.
There are times when Arizona seems like a bedroom community of the states of the former Confederacy.

Couldnât happen to a nicer guy, but I notice the Republican criticism has a âyou canât say that out loud you dipstickâ flavor to it. The manâs opinionâs so 100% mainstream GOP, that Republican candidates are starting to campaign on making birth control OTC.
Hobby Lobby was the professional Christiansâ opportunity to have their reward in full. OTC birth control and Pearceâs thoughts are about Job CreatorsÂŽ resentment of the immoral, unworthy 47%, for possibly having a good time at their expense.

While I quite approve of your sentiment (in fact, I was going to say something quite similar myself), I must disapprove of the misuse of the term âbeg the questionâ. âBegging the questionâ is a logical fallacy known as petitio principii or âassuming the initial pointâ. It consists of including what one is trying to prove by oneâs argument as a premise of the argument.
Still, as I say, I agree completely with your main point.

Pearce was recalled by the people of Arizona because his views were too extreme. So what happens? A newly formed Republican organization hires him in a position of power, only to have him resign for the same reason he was recalled: his positions are too extreme!

How can something you say on your own radio show not be your own fault. The problem is the guy has a radio show and lots of time to fill. He has to say something.
