Discussion: Appeals Court Upholds Former Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell's Convictions

Discussion for article #238320

Why are they still roaming around?

They should , at least, be under house arrest…in the same house.

Or would that be considered cruel and unusual punishment for Bob. I’m surprised he, as ex-gov, hasn’t formed an exploratory committee to see if he can get a ticket for the ClownBus.

Sorry, Trans-vaginal Bob (and Bobette), but you lost. Forced colonoscopy without anesthesia might be an appropriate punishment, but prison time will have to suffice, I suppose.

Neither will sit a day in jail for their crimes. They’ll litigate this and appeal it, then re-litigate it and file more appeals. Then they’ll sue judges and jurors, contest findings, be granted continuances. They can stretch this out until their deaths and ours. “Free on appeal” will be an apt label until they’re buried. One day a Republican President will pardon them. Something will prevent any future imprisonmment no matter the verdict of the courts and the law.

So true . . . and more evidence of the serious problems within our justice system. Money buys rights and freedom.

Agreed, so when do they report to prison? 2018???

Good, but his sentence is NOT nearly long enough!

"During my nearly 40 years of public service, I have never violated my oath of office nor disregarded the law. "

The “guilty” verdict you received, and that the 4th Circuit just upheld, says differently.

With all the crap the GOP has been up to lately this feels like a blast from the past. McDonnell is a dinosaur of corruption in a party that is minting new scandals as fast as Trump can say “ooouggge”

Gee!

It looks like beauty is in the eye of the beholder, or sometimes the judicatory, I guess?

Time to cut the hair and lose the pretty-boy look. Won’t be helpful where he is going.

Once there’s a refusal to hear it from from the Supreme Court the trial judge will set a date and they will go to prison. If Martha Stewart can serve time, so can these bozos.
