Yes. Normally cases like this would take months at best. Federal courts don’t move quickly.

July doesn’t feel that expedited to me. And this isn’t even the crux of the matter that would be the focus of impeachment. It doesn’t even address the grand jury 6-e claims or the executive privilege claims. This is a slow walk to nowhere quite frankly, and we’re going to piss away the summer. Start a formal impeachment inquiry now, and you’ll get things moving and confront and dispose of these issues more quickly.
I recall it being argued that courts would be mightily impressed by the care with which the Democrats were pursuing their quarry. If this level of care required delay upon delay, then so be it, I recall it being argued.
Has any judge so far found occasion to compliment the Democrats on the care they have taken? Of course not, because there’s no need: the case made by the other side is transparently ridiculous.

Can’t argue with any of that, but what are Dems supposed to do when someone is breaking every rule, every law, stonewalling everything, and has an AG and DOJ and FBI who are being dismantled and rebuilt with completely deficient and flawed partisan parts?
Were they supposed to have a whole Plan B…here is how you proceed when most every principle and legal mechanism has been discarded or kneecapped and the entire R apparatus is happily doing nothing about any of it and watching the Ds try to land the plane? A plane they sabotaged, killed the engines, dumped the fuel, disabled the hydraulics, and cut the backup cables?

What happens when it goes to the Senate for trial? McTurtle hand picks the prosecution team of Senators always having the majority for votes on rules, witnesses, evidence, etc. with Lindsey Lickspittle in charge and Roberts sits in the Judge’s seat silently letting Lindsey do whatever he wants. They have shown absolutely no shame so far.
To be clear I think they have to open the inquiry, I just don’t see how it ends other than at the 2020 election.

I asked and someone sent me some links on the Senate Majority Leaders options. He can dilly dally and never even bring to a vote the action to begin the process/trial. That is one option.
