Despite their overall lack of optimism about the state of the nation, Americans appear more likely to think the economy will improve in the next year than that it will deteriorate, 37 percent to 32 percent.
And they’re much more likely to think their personal finances will move in the right direction than the wrong one, 39 percent to 18 percent.
“it can’t be both, it can’t be both, it can’t be…”
"In a country well governed, poverty is something to be ashamed of. In a country badly governed, wealth is something to be ashamed of." – Confucious
This is very strange. Based on the questions asked and the overall responses, these lead me to believe that i’m not living in America. With this dotard in charge, how can any Republican think this nation is headed in the right direction? I am so lost.
They will catch on when it’s time to pay up or I should say, when they take it away from them.
Trump won, Clinton lost
Because to do so, even in an anonymous survey or poll, would be to admit to themselves that they made a mistake. To admit to themselves that tribalism and a cult of personality made them overlook all of Trump’s obvious unfitness for the job. Many people will do almost anything rather than admit that they were wrong.
You’re wrong. Why won’t you admit that?
67 percent of Republicans say the country is headed in the right direction
That’s all you need to know. Any individual that believes the country is going in the right direction, needs to be removed from whatever position of power they are in, be it gov’t, business, education or social service. The country will forever be locked into a 1 or 2 step forward/back routine until conservatives are, overwhelmingly, a minority in any area that has influence over how society functions.
Do you know what this means? That more than one-third of Americans can’t be bothered to think about the direction the nation is headed, or are out of their gourds.
Sadly true.
Just remember, nearly 16% of the populations have an IQ of less than 85.
There’s probably a very high correlation between those who are optimistic about moving in the “right direction” and those who exclusively watch Fox “News”.
MAGA - because America is always at it’s absolute best when it’s heading in the totally wrong direction.
67 percent of Republicans think the nation is headed in the white direction.
But forgetting for a moment the idiotic tribalism of the GOP, it is quite remarkable that a strong majority of the country think we’re headed in the wrong direction, in a time of (relative) prosperity and (for now) peace. That is all due to Tweety Amin.
For much the same reason that even people who think the economy will get worse their personal finances will be fine. People think they are smarter than they are. If I am smarter than average my choices will be better than average. To think otherwise they would have to consider themselves at best “average” and possibly below average. Nearly two-thirds (64 percent) of American drivers rate themselves as “excellent” or “very good” drivers. (Average and poor made up the rest of the assessments)
But the corollary here is important. 33% of REPUBLICANS do not think the country is headed in the right direction.
Conservative and Republican are not synonyms. The closest you could come would be “pro-business” and Republican. But even that is no longer true. They are pro-rich, and if that means autocracy or oligarchy they don’t care, as long as the money keeps going to their masters. No one carrying the title “Republican” deserves to be re-elected. The Trumpublicans in Congress have so tarnished the name that the Republicans need to go the way of the Whigs.
Geeze! When will Republicans learn that white doesn’t make right. They always resort to white might to deny other’s rights.
Those folk are oh so special.
True. Those poll numbers make a lot of sense during The Dunning-Kruger Presidency.
And as perhaps America’s greatest philosopher/foole put it:
“Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.”
― George Carlin
