Discussion: AP-NORC Poll: Majority Of Americans Favor Independent Russia Probe

Um, a quarter of Democrats did not check the ‘I’m in favor of a probe’ box? I find that hard to believe.

(OT: Is it just me, or are the leaks out of the WH far fewer in number these days? Used to be that the WaPo would run a leak almost every day…)

Nearly half Americans want to impeach trump and other stuff.

It is the same Fake News Media that said there is "no path to victory for Trump" that is now pushing the phony Russia story. A total scam!

This was six in the morning yesterday, but he was going off in the same vein at the same time today. Contemptible and pathetic. These denials are so painfully childish you wonder if he won’t end up like Al Capone, who was released early from Alcatraz because his brain was so ravaged by late-stage syphilis.

They really need to probe who let that painting out in public. That’s a serious crime against humanity.

Keep up the drumbeat, Trump-Putin-Corruption-Russia, day in, day out. The American people should hear this so frequently and insistently that Clinton emails gets replaced in their consciousness with Trump Treason.

With the distinction being that only one of the mantras is connected to reality…

It really is astonishing how tolerant republicans have become of Russian involvement in our government, considering the party’s history of trying to brand liberals as “pinko commies”, Russian sympathizes, etc, during the Cold War.

Now that there really is real-world evidence of actual Russian meddling (as opposed to paranoid fantasy and outright cynicism), and their guys are clearly involved, a lot of republicans are perfectly OK with the idea.

23%? Whoa, according to Ugg’s calculations, that’s below the Stupidoza line. Har har har.

My gaydar is not particular astute, but for some reason, it keeps blaring when I look at that picture.

Re-branding always worked with the GOP base. That’s how their brain is wired. The ex-KGB agent Putin is totally no Commie anymore. No communism no problem.

Point taken.

The new standard is that “Rooskies” are OK, so long as they are helping republicans and aren’t “commies”.

I can’t get too excited by this yet, and here’s why. There’s a version of the Hastart Rule that applies here: until a majority of the GOP base has an issue with a policy, no one in the party will think it worth considering. Sorry Dems, you don’t count.

And yes, that is in large part due to extreme gerrymandering.

So a majority of Republicans are opposed to investigating Trump’s collusion with the Russians, huh?

I’d call that consciousness of guilt.

The imagery certainly implies homo-eroticism but in reality Trump and Putin are both staunchly heterosexual men who just happen to fear and hate women. Not gay but certifiably misogynistic.

“23 percent are opposed.”

That right there is the deadly number. It doesn’t strike me as odd that a lot of people, including a bunch of Democrats, don’t know enough to know whether they’re for or against an independent commission and/or prosecutor. But if you’re the president and your “against investigation that might lead to impeachment of the president for something that smells a lot like treason” number is below even the 26% Crazificaiton Factor, you are well and truly fucked.

“while 23 percent are opposed.”

pre-tea numbers there, it means something… the Tea Mob brought the cult conservative numbers up to 27% of the voting public… and they managed to get Trump elected with the impetus of that angry but ever-fickle reactionary minority.

The fact that even a few of those are willing to commit to an investigation that might ensnare their idol, means Trump’s probably no longer their idol.

That 27% was always tenuous and tentative.

But that 23% would take SatanÂŽ over Anyone(D), and I blame FOX and Rush for fomenting that mindbent bent, they are certainly proud of it.

For now…

Thank dog for Google. The photographer is a Russian photojournalist, lives in Saratov, no surprise there. His favorite medium is black velvet. I made that part up.

The image standing in the place for Pennywise the President looks 40 years younger with possessed eyes. What is the message - that the president is really a bot? Very Creepy.

One time I head across the bridge from San Diego into Tijuana stalking my prey. After several unsuccessful ambushes, I find just the exact black-velvet critter I’m looking for. The proprietor wraps it up tightly, so as to avoid any prying eyes. I’m walking back over the bridge, and a couple sees me, slows down, and then the guy says “Elvis right?”
It was.
