Discussion for article #246009
When it takes more time to fact check the debate than the debate itself; you have no business representing the American People.
I think some of the commercials made sort of factually correct assertions. Some of them.
Nobody watches the GOP debates for the facts.
Republicans and facts? Not so much.
Can I pull my hair out now? Rubio is NOT âin the ball parkâ about the nomination of a Supreme Court justice because President Obama is not a âlame-duck.â That term ONLY refers to the period between the election of a new president and his/her inauguration - that is, President Obama does not become a lame duck until November 9, 2016 (or, arguably, until about a month later when the Electoral College has formally elected the next President).
I hooked a truthOâmeter to the TV at the beginning of the fubar event:

Had to unplug it after only a few minutes when it became a fire hazard.
Unasked Sunday Show question:
So the general consensus is last nightâs debate was an utter disaster, the tossing of both baby and bath water in a shameful, childish display of unrestrained egomania over and above any understanding of what the office of President is all about. (Insert appropriate candidate example) Your response?
Like oil and water.
But isnât that the Republican way? To move the goal posts to further their agenda or talking point du jour?
I like the report that shows the percentage of actual truth compared to the real lies and distortions.
The Repub debates donât crest a quarter truth as a rule and less most of the time.
IOW, every single one of the candidates is lying over 75% of the time and some almost 100% if you take into consideration the intentional distortions and omissions.
Carson may be the only one in question because it is unclear if he is talking in his sleep or too groggy to understand that he is on live TV with a nation watching him as he pops in and out of coherence.
The Carson meter is separate from the others, his is an alertness thing and it measures fluctuations.
I see the AP doesnât have a clue what a âlame duckâ President is either.
They surely do but donât have any other juicy sounding words or descriptions to just toss around.
The President isnât even a slightly wounded duck or is he quacking to their tune.
If they need a real label to throw on Obama, I think Balding Eagle might work ; )
Trumpâs figure for total U.S. expenditures in the Middle East, though, appears significantly inflated. In November, Trump cited a $2 trillion figure. That number roughly matches the amount of money the U.S. spent fighting in Afghanistan and Iraq between 2001 and 2015, according to the bipartisan Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget.
donald is closer to the truth than the CFRB estimates, if you include the staggering cost of treating veterans. The cost of those wars isnât stagnant, it continues to rise as time goes on. From an LA Times article, March 2013, referring to the Afghanistan and Iraq FUBAR wars: âTogether theyâll be the most expensive in U.S. history, costing as much as $6 trillion over time, a new analysis says. Veteransâ care will probably be the biggest future expense.â
I know that veteransâ care probably didnât enter donaldâs mind, but this is something worth pointing out by any political candidate, if they would only pay attention.

Imagine Edward Everett Horton narrating the GOP debatesâŚperfect!
Aside from their very predictable blather concerning Scalia, the great conundrum here is that any sentient human being could watch those six damned, incoherent, ranting, insane howler monkeys that are the presidential âhopefulsâ of the Republican Cult and say to him/herself: âYes indeed! THATâS the person I want to represent me and my hopes and dreams.â
It suggest an enormous, a YOOOOOGEâ number of the GOPâs sheeple base absolutely gorged on lead laden and infused paint chips as children.
Tons of outright lies, not an ounce of conscience.
Peddlers of dysfunction.
According to all the folks running they are all a bunch of liarsâŚunless they are are all lying about that tooâŚdamn itâs so confusingâŚ
The thought of any of those guys being President after such childish arguments at a national debateâŚjebus help us!
Yes, they were ALL LYING!
