Discussion: AP FACT CHECK: The Week When Trump's Wiretap Accusation Died

Wouldn’t it be easier to focus on those few statements Trump makes that are true?

“When Trump said that he felt good today, we declare that mostly true. Everything else he said was a ‘Pants on Fire’ lie.”

This is AP???

Ron Fournier would be spinning in his grave if he’d just fucking die like he should.

Despite having the majority, House Republican leaders failed to win enough support for the replacement legislation to put it to a vote.

I think we should be describing this as bi-partisan opposition. Had it passed the other way around, full democratic support with a handful of republicans, you can bet that’s how they’d label the success.

The AP is a cooperative of pretty much all the papers in the country, so it’s least-common-denominator as far as the conclusions of its reporting go. This fact-check is significant because it means at this point (two months into the administration) the notion that the president is almost completely disconnected from the factual world isn’t expected to surprise or offend more than a handful of newspaper editors or publishers anywhere, including the conservative enclaves.

It’s going to be a long three and three quarters years.

It is hard too believe that after seven years of saying the ACA will collapse within months it is still there giving protection to millions of folks. Lesson from the past: now that the R effort to repeal the ACA has failed do not ignore it. Continue to push success as well as areas you would like to see cooperation with the R’s to improve. Never give them to opportunity to take control of the narrative!
