Honestly, this is hugely shocking…the polling failed to capture the electorate, as did any data, and Trump ran a disaster of a campaign and still won. I’m sure people will pick tonight apart over the next few days, and try to determine how much the Comey letter affected the race (probably a lot of undecideds were pushed at the last minute over it). In the end, the number of people who want to send a message that America is a white, Christian nation was larger than expected in the rural areas, and that lead us to where we are now.
And that is likely a bad place…we’re under Republican rule, and their policies are going to do all kinds of harm. I guess the question is if people will be able to understand why things are falling apart, or care. At the very least, this needs to be a wakeup call to liberals that they can’t just sit around and expect people to fall into line or expect facts to rule the day, or ignore and denigrate the “deplorables” anymore. Clinton tried to run as a leader for all Americans, but I don’t think she could share that message well, too much baggage…we need that leader to come forward in four years and save us from the coming disaster.
We’re all disappointed, but we can’t fall into the circular firing squad. Time to get up, brush ourselves off and determine how to sell our better version of America to all Americans as best we can.
