Discussion: Anti-Muslim Group To Use Winning Muhammad Cartoon In New Bus Ads

Discussion for article #236756

So really, after putting police lives at risk in Garland, Texas, now she’s putting other peoples’ lives at risk on buses. Can’t she just paste the cartoon on her own front door like a normal lunatic?

This crazy woman won’t be happy until there are mass American casualties.

In related news, she plans on passing out urine-filled jars containing crucifixes throughout Arkansas to protest against Christian extremism and its influence on protecting child molesters.

“Because the media and the cultural and political elites continue to
self-enforce the Sharia without the consent of the American people
by refusing to show any depictions of Muhammad…”

Seriously man, we need to start rebuilding the large insane asylums similar to the ones in the 19th century all over again (really, I don’t think they ever should have been torn down in the first place). There’s a great need now…

Soooo…instead of baiting any unhinged extremists to attack a single location populated by Pam and her fellow loons, she’s baiting them into attacking public buses.

Psychotically irresponsible or intentionally looking to get innocent people killed? Decisions, decisions…

Exactly how is this much different than shouting “fire” in a crowded theater?

Well, it’s very different. As dumb as I think she is, a cartoon drawing of a religious figure should not spread the kind of panic that the notion of an our of control fire does.

I think she’s a crazy person who does intentionally want to get people killed but I don’t really buy the “baiting” argument. People who react to her with violence are as crazy as she is.

Fire meet fuel.

Without a polygraph or soul-o-scope it’s hard to say for sure she’s deliberately trying to provoke a bombing. But if you wanted to do that, this is how. If there were some injunction put in place to prevent this I would not object. The MTA riders did not sign up to be targets; they just want to get to work. Vile person, just vile.

Now she and her psychopathic thugs want to blow up a bus in the Capitol by proxy. It looks to me like a good test case of the transportation utility exercising their right and duty to protect their passengers and equipment vs. the incitement of terrorism. They should litigate it as far and as long as possible; then go out of business and reincorporate as a brand new company. F a bunch of bigots.

Yes, and rich people should pay their fair share of taxes, corporations should exist for reasons beyond short-term profit, we should resist the temptation to go to war based on a pack of lies, and we should make the transition away from carbon-based fuels, and so on and so on…

The problem with “should” is that it changes no one’s mind. We have to deal with the reality as it is, and act accordingly.

In general of course you’re correct but the key word there is “should.” People should not kill each other over this, but unfortunately they do. A reasonable person could question whether it’s wise to take an action that provably can cause unhinged extremists to target what in this case are people who haven’t signed on to the provocation. The crowded-theater argument specifically says free speech doesn’t supersede your right to be safe from physical danger.

How 'bout a public service announcement: “The DC Transit Authority
thanks Ms. Geller for her generous contribution to the cartooning arts.”

(with a photo of Ms Geller, and her address, of course) immediately
next to each of her new ads?

…those yelling “fire!” should at least be in the theater,

She used to be “fringe”, but now she is picking up major funding from the John Bircher Billionaires in their “pusch” for another “Reichstage Fire” event.
They know the voters are tired of war, tired of flat wages, tired of a “do nothing” Congress, and tired of the “infotainment media whores” telling them what to think and how the .01% “knows best” and they should just roll over and “take it”.
Between that and the moronic “clown car” of losers they have as Presidential Candidates they now feel they need “something big” to happen to scare the living shit out of the American People and stampede them into the waiting arms of the Fascists (it worked after 9/11 and they salivate of the idea of another one.)
To advance this they are doing their damnedest to inflame the lunatic fringe of the Islamist Terrorists and goad them into an attack in Washington D.C. where there is an endless supply of “journalists” ready and willing to sell their souls for the succulent national exposure that such an attack would bring.

Putting innocent lives in danger in order to make a partisan statement and claiming it’s her 1st amendment right to do so.

From the Schenk case, where the clear and present danger/fire in a crowded test was established:

“The most stringent protection of free speech would not protect a man in falsely shouting fire in a theatre and causing a panic. […] The question in every case is whether the words used are used in such circumstances and are of such a nature as to create a clear and present danger that they will bring about the substantive evils that Congress has a right to prevent”

The second sentence very clearly establishes grounds for preventing her from posting her cartoons

She also has the right to defend herself at a commitment hearing.
