Prior to this election if you had asked me what I thought of America, I would have said that we were fundamentally a good people, with high ideals.
Then Along comes Trump, and while he is losing, I am appalled by how many āAmericansā are, in fact, voting for him. I knew racism existed of course, I see it every day. But I did not realize how far we fall from the ideal of America because of it, or how deeply ingrained it is in our character. It is sad and depressing. We are better than this.
The pornography of hate on full display.
TPM , these people are racists. Please stop being so politically correct.
It is not fair to Scott Adams to lump him in with āwhite nationalistsā and āanti-immigrant hardlinersā. He has consistently said that his interest is Trumpās techniques of persuasion, and that he disagrees with him on policy.
He predicted a Trump win early in the GOP race (pre-Iowa, for Peteās sake). Since then heās predicted a Trump landslide in the generalāpurely based on analysis of persuasion techniques.

Hell of a speech. Almost perfect. Logical, deeply felt, and powerfully delivered. ā¦
ā¦ Donald Trump has tied our foolish immigration policies to every problem we have. This is a epochal, historic, unprecedented ā¦[/quote]
ā¦ And deeply stupid. Because itās not logical to believe every problem in America is due to the people with the least power.
Where the fuck did these people learn their critical thinking skills (if you can call it thinking)? From Mein Kampf and Ayn Rand?
Except that, sadly, we are not ābetter than this,ā it pains me to say. Remember the previous president āweā elected, twice, who lied us into a couple of wars? It will happen again if enough of us reasonable folks stay home in disgust on Nov 8.
Apparently not. Or at least 40% of us arenāt.
Which is even more sad and depressing.
And frustrating ā¦ and infuriating ā¦ and despair-inducing ā¦
If I made up that sentence as a satire of Coulterās writing, people would justifiably tell me itās over the top and too silly to be believed.
Ann Coulter, literally Beyond Parody.
I hear Churchill had a nice turn of phrase, but Trumpās immigration speech is the most magnificent speech ever given.
ā Ann Coulter (@AnnCoulter)
And yet heās not persuaded that TrumpHOās policies are nuts? This aināt no MBA exercise Scottie, itās real life.
Besides, isnāt Adams the one who pointed out the insanity of the pointy-haired bossās arbitrary decision-making and economic coercion? Does he not see the same qualities in his candidate? Makes me wonder if heās been outsourcing his comics for a while.
Given some of the rest of Adamsās behavior, āIām just for him because Iām fascinated by his persuasive techniquesā rings just the tiniest bit hollow.
Josh compares Trump and Hitler here;
And the thought occurred to me that thereās also a lot of similarity between the folks that are attracted to both men and their rhetoric.
Dilbertā¦ Sad.
I feel like I am in The Twilight Zone. Trump is in control of the narrative and nothing he says, no matter how objectively offensive it would have been considered āper-Trumpā, registers with other-wise normal people. Rational discourse be damned. Unbelievable.
Trump sickens me. His supporters terrify me.
I dread what will happen come the night of November 8th because I believe there will be some kind of violence no matter the outcome.
One would almost think she was already humping a very bad bookā¦
I followed Adamsā blog since last August and finally dropped it in disgust a few months ago. Yes, he identified Trumpās strong persuasion techniques and predicted his success based on that. Adams also gradually revealed his pro-Trump leanings, constructing elaborate apologias for every Trump outrage and bashing Hillary relentlessly. He originally added disclaimers about neutrality, but has now discarded them for blatant partisanship. So, all along, he was just pretending to be objective and analytical.
His blog quickly attracted the attention of white supremacists, neo-Nazis, menās rights advocates and a host of other misfits whose comments were so vicious he finally had to close the comment section. Adams always emphasized that his main goal in writing the blog was to sell books. He apparently thinks his snark is clever and heās the smartest guy in the room. I eventually just tired of his ignorant rants and his hateful following.
Suddenly, Dogbert makes much more senseā¦
The Dilbert cartoon still makes me smirk every now and then. The Scott Adams blog, like the cartoon, is juvenile, predictable and provides no new insights. I can see why the cartoon is so consistent; itās the real Scott Adams, split into multiple personas.
