Discussion: Anti-Gay Movement Needs It's 'Rosa Parks Moment'

Discussion for article #228931

The first gays to seek marriage equality were the Rosa Parks. The homophobes are the reincarnation of George Wallace standing in the door.

Rosa Parks represented the oppressed, not the oppressors.

Obama is the new Hitler, Peter LaBarbera is the new Rosa Parks.

There, I did it. Hitler and Rosa Parks in the same post. Ban me, plz.

The anti-equality bigots will probably be like the “good Christians” who bombed black churches in Mississippi. That was their “civil disobedience.”

They’re not talking about a “Rosa Parks Moment”. They’re talking about an “Ernst Röhm Moment”. It was known as the Night of the Long Knives.

Ah, Porno Pete seems to still be desperate to make sure that his cash cow doesn’t stop giving that golden milk because I somehow doubt that “gay porn obsessed anti-gay activist” looks good on a resume.

If the wingers think there are gay buses know this, Rosa would have had a blast on one and wouldn’t have made it past the food and dancing to the rear where most, anyway, just hold hands or snog…

"This sweet woman ended up becoming this massive hero and she didn’t have any other idea behind it other than she didn’t think it was right and she was correct in that,

Um, I thought we all knew this was not so. This was a well-planned and well-mananged moment set up and exectuted by great strategic minds who understood the power of the media as a weapon against idiot oppressors.

She was not just some random citizen, she was a key member of a great team who struck a serious blow against injustice.

Wasn’t she?

LaBarbera might also want to consider what happens if a governor ignores a Supreme Court ruling.

It isn’t pleasant.

Basically, LaBarbera, et al., have pretty much no recourse at this point.

Yet, oddly, they perceive themselves as the oppressed.

Don’t like gay marriage? Then marry someone of the opposite sex and STFU.

Nah, the anti-gay movement needs a Moses moment. If you don’t like this country’s laws and the principles they were based on, go away. Go live in Greenland or somewhere. Just go.

I hear Somalia is a Libertarian paradise. No laws, and as many guns as you can steal!

I think the analogy is only apt if you’re fighting against bigotry, not for it. But thanks for playing.

We need people to stand up for their faith and say no

“First they came for the bigots…”

I should think Uganda would be their first choice:

with Ghana a close second:

Remind them to take their DIY ebola kits with them.

Fine with me. But they can’t go to Uganda, where the supreme court struck down the law making homosexuality a life-sentenceworthy crime. Looks like the gay thought police are controlling things there too! Oh noes!

I was going to make the same point. These people are incredibly ignorant of every aspect of American history, and utterly clueless about the way the world actually works.
