Love watching Nancy work.
Looks like he gets his suits from Roger Stone’s boutique awning shop?
Excellent news on both counts. Good for Pelosi, and for Higgins.
But the money quote is: “…we don’t even have a semblance of a viable alternative at this point.” Worth repeating. There just isn’t anyone else.
“The bottom line is, we don’t even have a semblance of a viable alternative at this point.”
Damn right. Y’all all couldn’t find someone to fall in love with so fall in line! We have important things to do and now that you’ve had your moment in the bright lights, it’s time to get to work!
I can’t wait to donate money to primary anyone dumb enough to stay on that list.
Agreed to work on a major infrastructure bill. Isn’t that what we’ve been working on the whole time tRump has been in office and what is there to show for it?
This is how things get done in DC and Nancy is an expert at this. No other Dem is close. We will end up with many new, progressive house members in powerful positions. This is why the Republicans have been after her for years.
Higgins must have studied The Art of the Deal if he was able to force Pelosi to advance both an infrastructure bill and a Medicare buy-in in exchange for his support of her Speakership.
Pelosi was always going to be speaker. This is nothing more than a media-created palace intrigue bullshit story, fueled by a couple of Turd Way, No Labels corporate douchebags (Moulton and Ryan) to grab 15 minutes of attention. My hope is that Pelosi uses this opportunity to start grooming the younger talent so that we don’t end up with Speaker Hoyer in two years. THAT would be a disaster not only for the Party, but for the planet as well…
This is why Nancy should be speaker.
Ryan earns his surname—that’s for sure.
Perhaps I’m a little naive, or perhaps just optimistic, thinking that Higgins wants these things for the people he represents and not for himself…as in Trump and his book.
The come-to-Jesus moment has arrived.
She is really good at what she does.
Now, if Moulton, etc really care about the Party, they will trade their votes to folks who pleaded not to vote for Pelosi who are in Red districts which allows them a free vote against her.
Nancy is my congressperson, and I have met her many times. I love what she does. I also realize that - for PR reasons only, to have a better spokesperson for the party - she at some point needs to step back. The sad thing for me is that Moutlon, etc could have cut a quite deal with Nancy, they vote for her, give those newly elected a free vote, and she agrees to announce that this is her last term as speaker, and create some new posts for the younger generation, and take away the republican talking point in 2020.
“The bottom line is, we don’t even have a semblance of a viable alternative at this point.”
If you don’t take Step 1, you don’t get anywhere.
We’ll see it in a couple weeks or so, maybe sooner, they haven’t told me the final release date. The plan is done, it’s a terrific plan. A trillion dollars of infrastructure spending directed by private industry and it won’t cost hard-working US taxpayers one…single…dime. People said “oh, you can’t do that, you’ll have to put taxes up through the roof.” Listen, we’ve never had a president like me who actually knows how to build things. I put stuff up all the time and people are amazed at how fast I do it and the high quality. They tell me that there will be so many jobs that people who are working three jobs today will have four jobs.
Art of the Deal, indeed: “Go ahead, Higgins; ask me to deliver what I already had planned to do!” I’m fine with allowing him to be the “lead person” on the latter initiative. Let’s see what he can do.
Amateurs going up against an entrenched professional on her home turf? It’s almost as though Nancy knows what she’s doing. smh…fools
“Democrats under her leadership will advance a “major infrastructure bill early in the next Congress,” in the paper’s words, and a commitment to let Higgins lead the charge on a proposal to let Americans buy into Medicare at age 50.”
Well, sure, these are wildly popular ideas – that will improve daily life for tens of millions of Americans.
But isn’t she, like, old?
With ladyparts?
Or something?
What we are going to have is a House passed measure that the Republicans can either help the country and themselves by passing or they can retain their Freedumb credentials and go down in flames. Same for Trump.
