Another All-Out Brawl Over School Funding Is Brewing In Kansas
Brawl?
Iâd think torches and pitchforks would be the choice of Kansans at this point.

Well, Kansas could borrow the money from Arizona after my state starts using revenue from State Trust Lands to finance a similar education shortfall here. Hey we got two know-nothing teaparty amateur governors here. A bromance is certain. Better do it quick though, 'Cause once the trust fund is depleted, itâs depleted. Alternatively, Kansas could establish a gofundme.com account.
Adding to the controversy, four former governors of Kansas, Republicans AND Democrats, [have signed a joint letter excoriating the Brownback Administration for its overall slash and burn budget policies and the damage being done to the state.][1]
âŚfour former Kansas governors are coming together to try and stop the destructive policies of current Governor Sam Brownback. Former Republican Governors Bill Graves and Mike Hayden joined with former Democratic Governors and Kathleen Sibelius and John Carlin to absolutely torch Sam Brownback and his âdestructive policies.â They are lending their support to the Save Kansas Coalition, a group which is aiming to âwork for the return of responsible governing.â
As always, you can be sure, Brownback and company will just insist that despite six years of this increasingly draconian exercise in destroying the state, their âtrickle downâ policies just need a couple more decades to prove themselves. Mr. Lafferâs nonsense has been totally debunked by this Kansas test tube trial and with every passing day, trying to defend it becomes more and more ridiculous. Yet Brownback and his allies are hell bent on gutting the entire state and its school system especially. Before long, Iâd say impeachment is in order for incompetent leadership.

Isnât gofundme a typo?
Brownback eliminated taxes for the wealthy (Kochs) and raised everyoneâs property tax. Fishing licenses were $18 last year and they were $32 this year, and sales taxes have risen dramatically to make up the huge hole in the budget.
Fuck the Kochs. Raise their taxes retroactively, they are worth more than $100 billion now.
Sam Brownback says he will call on a âhigher powerâ to save Kansas:
Dorothy: âWitch, please!â ~and she left Kansas permanently!~ The End
Hard to believe Kansas was once the heart of the Progressive Movement, huh?
Ultimately, the onus is on the voters. They voted these clowns into office. They need to vote them out, instead of depending on the courts to bail them out.
At this point, Brownbackâs agenda canât be a surprise to anyone.
According to the Kochs, thereâs no need to raise taxes (well, maybe on the peasants but thatâs about it!)
Nope. All peasants need to do is help each other. You know, pitch in and physically do all the stuff that that oversized gubmint does. That way, no taxes are raised and people can learn the joys of pulling themselves and everyone else up by their bootstraps. Learn to do with less, peasants.
They had to hock them all to pay for schools.
âBut Brownback, who blames the stateâs ongoing fiscal woes on larger regional and national economic issuesâŚâ
This is what all conmen say: âThis scheme would work if it werenât for government interference! We would be raking in the dough if not for stupid regulations!â
But, he was elected, twice, soâŚ
If it hadnât been for those meddlesome kids and their dog, I would have gotten away with it!
So, correct me if Iâm wrong, but isnât this exactly what those Whatâs The Matter With Kansas voters asked for, over and over and over again? I feel badly for the victims in this but a majority of the voters there seem completely bereft of cognitive and judgement skills.
Brownback, abetted by the Republican majority in the legislature, engaged in an experiment with the stateâs fiscal policy. It has failed spectacularly, and should be an object lesson to all those claiming that huge tax cuts will unleash an economic miracle. Brownback, the Republicanâs who supported him, and the Kansas electorate who voted for him, should be ashamed, and ought to acknowledge the failure and fix it by raising revenues.
Any time now Kanas will be the wealthiest state in the nation. Minimum wage will be $15.00, teachers will be highly paid, schools will prosper, business will flourish, the governor will be celebrated and become POTUS. NOT!
Not that long ago, Kansas had the best schools in flyover country.
i donât have no sympathy whatâs so ever for Kansas, they brought this upon themselves for twice electing Sam Brownback and all the other crazy Republicans. As far as Iâm concern let them rot in the swell hole they made. And donât give them not one cent of Federal Tax Payers money to help them out, Brownback cause this mess by the tax cuts he kept giving to the Rich & Corporations. If they want to fix this, then they need to raise Taxes, especially on the Rich and Corporations.
