Discussion: Ann Coulter Is A No-Show At Raucous But Peaceful Berkeley 'Free Speech' Rally

Come on, call it what it is…

“I should suffer no consequences from my rampant hate speech and you should be forced to listen” Rally

But then I guess that does make for a rather long head line.

Free speech is good: it exposes frauds like this huckster.

Well, she set that up quite nicely to play the victim in all of this.

Free speech is great! But let’s not confuse free speech with being an attention-seeking troll whose only real purpose is pissing people off for vanity and profit. And that’s all people like Coulter or Milo “The Pedophile” Yiannopoulos were ever really up to. We’re not exactly talking about the free and open exchange of intelligent ideas here. Sure, Coulter should be allowed to speak. But it’s the age old misunderstanding on their part that free speech doesn’t mean you’re completely free from the consequences of the things you say. You’re allowed to protest too.

Very similar to the professional victims in the “creationist” movement who want to pretend that the totally ludicrous nonsense in the bible is on remotely the same level as evolution. No creationist should be allowed to pollute the minds of kids or the gullible among us. That’s not stifling free speech, it’s preventing rank misinformation and superstition from being elevated to the respectable level of science.

My understanding is that Berkeley attempted to offer Coulter alternative dates in which to speak on campus. And yet, you don’t get an inkling of that in this article. I wonder why?

Coulter holds an Advanced Degree in Victimhood from Trump University.

And cry me a goddamned river over free speech if you can’t take a little heat from some protestors but voted for a guy who ran on banning an entire religion from entering the country and later called the free press an “enemy of the people” and refuses to take unfriendly questions from certain news outlets. Hypocrisy and irony is so thoroughly lost on these people that I’m embarrassed to call them fellow Americans.

To show how tolerant they are, the conservatives should invite Richard Dawkins to speak at the Bob Jones University. Let’s see how tolerant and respectful they are when a handful of students want to show"The God Delusion" documentary by Dawkins in their conservative leaning schools.

That picture up top says it all. Middle-aged white guy pretending that his ilk are being victimized and silenced. I’m sorry, but that’s a bunch of bullshit. We’ve heard your bullshit for decades–no, centuries–and elevating minorities from the shadows doesn’t mean your crappy voice is being suppressed. It’s like these people have completely lost any sense of common courtesy, because that’s what much of this boils down to. This is a bunch of losers crying “but it’s a FREE COUNTRY!” while demanding the right to continue to openly condemn and dehumanize others without anyone standing up in opposition. Come on, Republicans: maybe try growing UP, focusing more on that simple concept of the golden rule, stop inviting crappy people with no academic credentials or capacity for sophisticated thought to speak to your juvenile groups, deliberately baiting people into making you look like the poor little victims you incorrectly think you are. Grow the f**k up already.

Anthropology major Christina Katkic, 21, worried that the university was getting increasingly stuck in the middle of the country’s political divide. Look at history Berkeley has always been involved…Vietnam!!!

What I heard happened is that her sponsors backed out, and wouldn’t front the money to rent the space.

So in other words… the people who “stifled free speech” were as usual… Conservative Republicans
