Coulter is just sticking up for the job security of our home-grown illiterate Terrorists.

For a long time, I’ve contended Maher is either being blackmailed by the entity known as “Ann Coulter” or he still gets a woodie over it. Whichever, he’s no more credible than she. Many years ago when I noticed his affection for her–without the knowledge they dated–I only watched him a time or two thereafter.

To give someone a say in who sits in the audience is a total lack of respect for the audience, any fans and the general viewing audience. I would never consider doing that unless there were past credible issues or problems with that particular guest – but I would be the one to have veto power, not said guest. Bill Maher isn’t worth the valuable pixel space here on TPM.

IMHO he’s worth more space than Fox News folks and Sarah Palin. At least he does have some interesting guests and his new rules are usually very good.

That was my thought, too: Her metaphor actually works against the point she wants it to make.

Perhaps I went a bit overboard with my disdain for him. Sorry. I do consider him a fairly nice guy overall, just with very poor taste. I don’t really care with who anyone has a personal relationship, but I do care when it affects otherwise good judgment. I noticed a long time ago Maher has a strong affection for Coulter and that he appeared to let her go a lot further than he let other guests – or that he never called her out or called her out as soundly as he would other people who would say just insanely stupid shit as Coulter. I guess it does irk me. She irks me a lot – not because she and I disagree on any particular topic, but because her insane, hateful reasoning – and the fact she is given such loudspeakers with which to disseminate that crass hate.

I have a lot of respect for you, chammy, so I’ll dial back a notch my feelings for Bill Maher. I admit that he does have many good and interesting guests, even guests with whom I disagree but who can get their point across in an intelligent and respectful way using proper etiquette and good manners and usually without dog whistles and such (though Coulter usually doesn’t even bother with dog whistles).

She is one of the most cynical bobbleheads on TV. A conservative yes, but she’d gladly sell the GOP out to move a couple more books. In fact this segment and her book are doing that. The GOP needs to pick some Hispanic voters, desperately. These rants set that notion back decades. Thank you Ann (beast) Coulter.

The idiot speaks…

Coulter :pig_nose: - Yet another one that needs a swift 2x4 to the side of the head… repeatedly…

Now, what has Coulter got against battered women’s shelters?

“Entity” … now that’s the best description after Coultergeist that I’ve heard.

Let’s take Coulter at her word. What would she have immigrants do? Does she want to deport 30 million people all at once? Imagine what a logistics nightmare that would be. And what would it do to the economy’s health to suddenly have 30 million people removed? It would probably throw us into an unending world-wide depression. While she might say there wouldn’t be all those welfare benefits being paid out, there also wouldn’t be groceries being bought, rents paid, gasoline bought, millions of other consumer goods and taxes being paid (Yes, Virginia illegals do pay taxes-lotsa them). Her solution would be worst than the problem. But Coulter’s intention is to sow hatred and dissent. And make a bunch bucks off of the hatred.

Coulter to go back to bashing single mothers like Jeb!. She’s out of her zone going after immigrants who in most cases are sharper than she is.

Just a modern Leni Reifenstahl with much, much less talent.

It was an excellent show, the last segment was great.

I do wish they had a fact checker on there. That statement about a Democratic SC Governor keeping the Confederate Flag up was not correct.

First of all, Maher was incorrect in saying there was not a Democratic governor in SC for a very long time. James Hodges (D) was governor from 1999-2003.

BUT, James Hodges only favored keeping the flag up prior to 1996, so that was 3 years before he became governor. So for Matt Lewis to claim a Democratic Governor kept the flag up is totally false. In fact, Hodges was very instrumental in removing the Confederate Flag from the Capitol’s Dome to the Confederate Soldiers Monument.

You were not out of line. You are entitled to your opinion. I am not a huge fan of his and question some of his positions and I find he is wrong on a lot of issues and bullheaded in many ways. You don’t need to dial back anything on my behalf because I too have a great deal of respect for you.

I despise Ann Coulter and when I saw she was one of his guests I had almost decided not to watch but when I saw that Joy Reid (whom I adore) was on and Representative Guitierrez I thought I’d give it a go and I am so glad Joy Reid put Coulter in her place yet showing such class.

The applause and standing ovation for Bernie Sanders was worth the show.

Matt Lewis is another scum bag and I was so glad that Maher called attention to The Daily Caller website where people were saying awful things about black folks - which is what prompted Lewis to try to make his false claims. Overall, I thought the show was pretty good. Ann Coulter wears an suit of armor at all times. She rarely lets anyone think they are getting the best of her.

I find her esthetically ugly. She is a walking skeleton. If she thinks it is attractive, she is very mistaken.

Well, I don’t think it was a long relationship - maybe a date or two and she used to frequent his prior show. However the fact that he dated her doesn’t bother me since a lot of men go out with women that I may not think are worthy but I do remember right here at TPM when Sarah Palin came on the scene, there were plenty of commenters here who said while they didn’t like her and thought she was stupid, they would certainly fuck her. There were also men right here at TPM who also thought Christine (The Witch") was fuckable. There is just no accounting for good taste.

Republican and conservative organizations buy up these kinds of books to boost sales and to offer as “gifts” to their members. Case in point, besides the one right here, Jonah Goldberg’s Liberal Fascism was No. 1 on the NYT best-seller list. No way that would happen without a big assist from such organizations.
