He’s branding himself as a moderate
Who? Why?
21 candidates. Sounds a lot like a Miami Dolphin spring training approach to deciding on a starting quarterback.
Who’s next?
I guess there will be a lot of blame to go around when Biden loses to Trump in 2020./snark
I like the guy, but there is absolutely no need for his candidacy nor does he have any constituency. I can only assume he’s running to be somebody’s running mate.
seems like some of the candidates are in it for the fundraising or perhaps a shot at a VP nomination.
I guess this means that Amy Klobuchar now has competition as to who will be the first to drop out…
Gee, I know you don’t like her but please cross off Seth Moulton first.
This is like a game of “Survivor” now.
Yeah, the eventual nominee will want to balance out their ticket, trying to lure in the “bland white guy” constituency they have such a tough time attracting.
Right?! I’m not sure which ticket he could even balance. He’s from a blue state. He doesn’t seem to have a particular issue he champions and he doesn’t have some kind of dynamic personality or personal story that makes him compelling. Is he doing this to pay off student loan debt? I really have no idea why he got in.
Yeah, it’s kinda beginning to sound like everyone who’s ever had “run for prez” on their bucket list are going for it this year…
It’s a way to “raise your profile” in politics for free. Stay in just long enough to hold a few local rallies, raise a little money, drop out early, and then a few more people might recognize your name in the next local election.
It’s pure selfishness and doesn’t help the party select the best candidate, but some of these pols can’t see beyond their own self-interest. There are enough of these middle age white guy clones in the race already, and Colorado voted for HRC in 2016, so he’s not bringing anything valuable there either.
But what’s his next step? Governor? He won’t be leader in the Senate.
I’m beginning to think that many candidates are in to collect votes and will eventually rally behind one candidate, transfering their votes to her/him.
I wonder if perhaps he’s running for a cabinet position. That may be why a few of these folks are actually running. Not for VP, but for an administration job.
Might be aiming for Governor, yeah.
I think this may be why he’s fooling himself that he has a shot at it. He had a brief moment of fame during the shutdown, so I guess he’s aiming for the C-SPAN demographic, or something (this from Wiki).
On January 24, 2019, Bennet gave an impassioned, impromptu 25-minute speech on the Senate floor in response to comments by Senator Ted Cruz. He questioned the authenticity of Cruz’s concern about difficulties that the 2018–19 government shutdown was causing to first responders,[74] recalling that in 2013 Cruz led a shutdown that lasted 16 days at a time when Colorado was experiencing flooding.[75] In less than eight hours the speech became the most-watched Senate floor speech in C-SPAN history.
bingo
Spare us. Please.
Agreed, but I don’t see him as the natural balance for any of the announced candidates. Aside from pasty white skin and a few % point in Colorado(maybe extended coattails to help out whoever challenges Gardner), I’m not sure what he brings to a ticket.
