Discussion for article #225244
This is great. I can’t wait for the “reporters” and Sabbath gasbags of Murkan TV to start resigning over their unwillingness to honestly and completely report things like NSA lies, Supreme Court corruption, the virtual purchase of many elected positions, etc…
They might be heroes.
This is going to really shake up the Kremlin. They know that they’ll NEVER be able to find another hot chick to spout baloney for them in exchange for a fat check. Undiscovered hot chicks just aren’t that narcissistic; don’t wanna be glamorous TV presenters if they have to compromise their “journalistic ethics” Putin may go on live TV IMPLORING her to return, double her salary and more, could do a first by weeping on TV!
Don’t hold your breath
You never see a Fox News reporter doing this. They must have better brainwashing techniques for their reporters than RT does.
Apparently reporters like Firth and Wahl didn’t bother to watch RT before taking a job there. Who did she think she was working for?
I suppose Sara Firth could not deal with the cognitive dissonance it takes to work at FOX for Rupert Putin, er I mean RT.
When not in crisis mode, RT presents an interesting alternative viewpoint, and has on-air talent that is far more liberal than any other news network, MSNBC included. People like Abby Martin, Thom Hartmann, Lee Camp and Sam Sacks (sp?)
But when Russia is involved in any kind of international conflict, all objectivity goes out the door, and it becomes all attack, all the time. So, after seeing coverage elsewhere re: the Malaysian plane, I headed to RT to catch their spin, and was again amazed at the non-stop, full-court Pro-Putin, anti-Ukranian, press.
If you haven’t seen it, just think the US Congress and mainstream press where Israel is concerned and you’ll get the idea.
You are kidding right? They were eagerly running propaganda pieces that the Bush administration produced, knowingly misrepresenting it as news.
She was working for Russia Today, what did she expect. Besides Crimea is Russia, today, no?
When not in crisis mode, Russia Today works to develop credibility among the American liberals and leftists who are the primary target for the propaganda they use when discussing anything involving Russia.
That is their “business” model: to make themselves appear credible and sympathetic to American liberals, so they’ll be softer targets.
Why do you think all of their hosts look and speak exactly like that hot young woman you’d hope to impress at an off-campus party with your political chit-chat?
They know their audience, and they pander to it. And, yes, pandering to it sometimes includes letting credible liberal/left journalists do real journalism about selected topics.
She needs to watch her back.
Exactly. A big part of the mindset of that leftist/liberal audience is to automatically not believe anything coming from the US government or MSM (which is not unreasonable given the BS and spin we often do get), so they often get suckered into believing that the “alternative view” must be right.
There were some at one time (though you suspect they were just caught in the whirlwind and replaced by the uber compliant)
DaveyJones64,
No, afraid I’m not kidding. They will eagerly run propaganda for whichever group is in charge. It guarantees access. The current president certainly doesn’t get as good a deal as W, but the military, the NSA, the large corporations – all practically immune from serious reporting. It really didn’t use to be this way.
If only US reporters would resign, like after they bought and sold Bush’s WMD lie in 2002-03.
Oh spare me your half-assed cynicism - all of you. There is no comparison between the state of journalism in the U.S. and in Russia. Course, you’d have to consume something other than MSNBC and opinion-laden websites to know that. The American media have some epic shortcomings, but to pretend that NYT or WaPo are on a par with Russia today is absurd on its face.
Nice to see there’s still some integrity in the TV news biz. Sure won’t find it at Fox.
Pity the outlets aren’t owned by the reporters.
Could get a few micrograms of polonium snuck into her tea.
