Discussion: Amtrak Trolls Chris Christie For Quiet Car Mishap

Discussion for article #242344

Christie’s Quiet Car routine has got to be one of the most egregious unforced errors in American politics.

I have no love for Christie, whom I voted against twice, but Amtrak seems to be “piling on,” or gilding the lily, or whatever the appropriate saying is. Christie made a mistake, it was brought to his attention, and he addressed it by leaving the Quiet Car. Christie’s escapade can be fodder for comedians and his political opponents, but Amtrak doesn’t need to be saying anything.

You clearly have never ridden Amtrak in the Northeast Corridor. Being loud in the Quiet Car is really really unforgivable. People sometimes fight for seats in that car just to get away from big mouths like Christie.

I wish Christie would be quite all the time.

Wonder if Rangel adds Mannatech and if so will admit it?

Some things are physically impossible, like putting an elephant in a china closet and expecting no damage. Or expecting Christie not to be slurping up fattening drinks and pretending that they are good for you.

Christie can expect much more of this as his descent continues.

If Christie was not running for president I sincerely doubt he would have apologized for the incident, he would have bellowed and bullied the way he always does. A leopard can’t change his spots, Porky.

This is trolling?

No, it is not trolling. Well, Rangel’s might have been a little bit, but Amtrak is just advertising. Nowadays, the media thinks any tweet that might possibly be connected to something some famous person did is “trolling”. It does a disservice to the masters of the trolling art.

If Amtrak had said something like, “Retweet if you still love our @QuietCar! And remember - our bridges don’t have traffic jams!” then THAT would have been trolling Christie.

Harry Reid’s shenanigans - those often rise to the level of trolling. Telling Rubio to resign, for example.

Standards do seem to be pretty low these days, don’t they ?

Have too. (If this post was in response to mine.)

13 responses! I finally realized that we won’t be seeing Chrispie’s face in a tub of butter, but on a piece of toast.

I thought it was the “notorious” quiet car.
