Discussion: Amid Strained Ties, Shots Fired At Gate Of US Embassy In Turkey

An attack on US soil. A proportionate response would be to nuke some out of the way spot like İzmir or Antalya – just to let the Turks know we mean business and set the stage for brass-tack negotiations.

So essentially trump and putin are working together with carrot and stick to move Turkey into alignment with russia?

Someone thinks an iPhone is an American product? So funny.

They have control of 39 American nuclear warheads at that south eastern air base near Syria. I would get those on American soil before I started nuking anything in Turkey.

There is a much bigger story here. We need to find out who, if anybody, entered in the embassy just before the shooting.

Trump doesn’t have the smarts to think that far ahead.

I really don’t know what to make of this pastor.

I take a very dim view of bible-thumpers trying to brainwash foreign non-believers. If you go overseas and try to browbeat people into adopting your religion, and that lands you in hot water, you’re on your own.

That said, I also know that the US has a history of meddling with foreign governments through covert means. I assume there’s a real possibility this guy was a meaningful contributor to the failed coup, and that he may have been doing so as a covert agent of the US. Or he could have been doing it out of sincere religious conviction. Or he could be a completely innocent pawn.

I don’t have enough facts. And I’m having a hard time finding an obvious right course even for the hypothetical scenarios that are consistent with the facts I do have.

Inside our country, trying to convert someone who is in a position to reject your information, is an aspect of both freedom of speech and freedom of religion.

More like Putin is using Russia and the US as carrot and stick.

Whatever else Trump is, he’s not subtle. Trump is necessarily in the dark, because he couldn’t keep a secret to save his life. Literally.
