I strongly suspect that even his base knows that Trump is liar and has probanly collaborated with the Russians. They simply don’t care.
The sad, pathetic, ignorant, delusional people at his rallies are never going to figure things out. They think they know what the real deal is, but are nothing more than willing and eager marks in Trump’s long con.

That’s a good question, isn’t it? While the polls indicate a lessening of support in his core demographic, I’d bet that the people who take the trouble to attend these bizarre rallies are the true believers who will be there till the end. The ones who’ve fallen away by now probably aren’t attending these freak shows any more.
I wonder if this was a loyalty test for his “Second Amendment people.” No matter how fast the walls close on him, he will have the chance to make things much uglier before he’s gone.

Strikes me that his message is very static. It has changed little with the events. He has to be bleeding followers simply because of that. He is not really addressing what people are seeing in the news, plastering “fake news” on anything that makes the headlines. But there is no countering of it beyond vilifying it.
He must also be roped in a bit, any step towards explaining it might end up being used against him as well. At the same time, the only way he can keep a crowd is by repeating what brought them to him.
A bit like an old rock star, playing the casinos, stuck with the early material because the fans will not accept anything new.

I was surprised that Trump didn’t also demand that Mueller investigate Obama’s country of origin and his fake birth certificate as well. We can’t be too careful about what that Obama guy has up his sleeve.
You can sustain the diehard roadies with Clinton hate but other people would like to move on from 2016. Donnie’s continually slipping poll numbers are evidence enough of that.
