That’s because Republicans don’t view that as a failing, at best they are indifferent to it and at worse they are upset that it doesn’t hit more Americans.

It is a reference to Poe’s Law, which if I understand correctly, has to do with how Republicans have gotten to the point where it is almost impossible to distinguish between their actual positions and a parody/satire of their positions. Think how TheGhostOfEusticeTully is able to catch up new users who don’t realize he is a parody despite how over the top he is.

Thepsyker has largely addressed this already, but I’m suggesting that the site is not what it appears to be, though without a bold declaration of “Click here to buy Colbert’s books!” it’s hard to know whether the creator of the site really wants Colbert off the air of if they just want to fleece some Republicans.
Not that there’s anything wrong with that.
I should have included an explanation in my original post, but I figured that Poe’s Law and Godwin’s Law are both pretty well known by now.
There’s benefit to providing those links even if the people visiting the site truly hate Colbert and would never buy his books. If someone clicks on an Amazon affiliate link and buys anything from the site within 24 hours, the person who provided a link gets a commission.

The AMA, to its credit, didn’t state or imply there was any positive movement, only negative. This was your mistake, and it’s not a minor quibble. TPM should be a leader in setting editorial standards to be more propaganda resistant. Fix it and do better next time.
