Discussion: Alum Raises Money For Black Chef After University Shuts Down Racist Frat

Discussion for article #234137

This is a gracious gesture on Burkhart’s part, as well as those who have donated. Personally, though, I think the chef deserves to be known as “Mr. Dixon” and not “Howard.” But that’s just silly ol’ me, thinking that people who serve me merit some respect, especially given these particular circumstances.

Sigma Alpha Epsilon house at OU for 15 years and considered the frat members his “family.”

I guess the frat members didn’t feel the same.

My heart goes out to this poor man, not just for losing his job but for having to work for these racist punks.
I just cannot wrap my mind around hating black people with a deep passion yet eating food prepared by a black man…Was Howard Dixon allowed to use the regular SAE restrooms or did he have a ‘special’ one?

I hope Mr. Dixon was able to spit in these frat boys food at least once before being forced to lose his job with this fraternity closing. Call it a going away surprise.

Taco Booger Pie

That has been the problem since slavery, and continues through today’s worship of African American athletes at all levels, while maintaining a deep hatred of African Americans. It requires you to compartmentalize people in very strange ways. In the end, SAE saw Mr. Dixon as their servant- when they saw him. As a cook, he was probably out of sight most of the time.

Jeez, it’s like that movie ‘the Help’ without the uplifting Hollywood ending.
Another victim in all this? The US Supreme Court and the CJ’s claim that racism was a thing of the past. SCOTUS looks as stupid and politically motivated as Tom Cotton and the Senate GOP clown car.

I was about to donate when I realized this Alum had many and more occasions to help correct the vicious racist frat, why now? His action is not what the Presdient was speaking too in Selma. In order to move forward action is needed by all americans, this “action” is another cop out The outspoken National chapter needs to help Mr Dixon find another job this Hand out is just what the Racist republicans always cite… Surely the well connected white alum have connections in Oklahoma!!!

I think it would depend if Mr. Dixon knew Mr, Burkhart as Blake.

Well, yes. I don’t know how socially-intimate they were. I’d still argue that some deference would be appropriate, though.

Somebody actually took Roberts seriously? I took his statement about as seriously as the post-racial America statement that Fox made after Obama was elected.

Yes but SCOTUS changed the Voting Rights Act, FOX just blows poisonous smoke.

“He is going to learn who has been working for. And through some cruel twist of fate, he has to lose the job that he has held for over a decade. He is going to lose his job because of a bus full of racist kids.”

Hopefully he knew all along who he has been cooking for, and has been liberally spitting in their every meal.

Racists just go through the day being racist and then one day the light goes off and its OMG, I’m not racist, I haven’t done anything lately, just watch me say or do something not racist right now to prove it.
Then its right back to where’s my servant, he didn’t think that he got time off just because I was posing did he, ni**er please, get back to work.

I hear you completely but I stop personally even before the ‘yet.’ How do people hate other human beings just because of being black?

Honestly it makes no sense to me.

Ah, hell. The alum set up a page that is going to give Chef Dixon a very helpful financial cushion. That’s a good thing.

Giving money to Dixon doesn’t obligate you to like or absolve Burkhart.

See, its Obama’s fault.

Racism was on the decline, or at least it was in the shadows. But now, hating on Obama is so popular, its having a ripple effect on other blacks as well. If Obama was not president, these fine boys would not even be thinking about race. They’d be happy to graduate, go to work in daddy’s firm and simply, quietly, refuse to hire or promote blacks. Now, Obama has made being racist popular again, so they got caught saying out loud what they were already thinking, and now, it might destroy these boys’ future. Thats what happens when you let one of “them” win an election. Its all Obama’s fault.

Bigots are so shallow that they have to have a race/color/gender/poverty to denigrate to make themselves feel worthwhile…

The content of their character can be measured in the vitriol they’re able to muster in others.

Wish the bigots and their families knew how much it sucks to be them.
