In all seriousness, this judge should never have engaged the defendant that way ā you never get into a name-calling back-and-forth, and especially never call the defendant a stereotypical prejorative. Very bad. Iām not at all defending the defendant, either, but heās not the legal professional here.

The guy was being defended by an incompetent lawyer, and was refused another lawyer. Where are our liberal values now?
The accused killer my have more sense than he seems to at the start. Heās gotten attention for his case where 1- The judge was unaware it was a murder charge, 2- The judge replies to his outbursts with outrageous comments, including homophobic ones, 3- His attorney may not have done the most basic discovery inquiries (not fully clear from the transcript). We know little about the crime and if there is any evidence that is conclusive. Given his personality, one can certainly assume there are other prisoners and guards who would dislike him and it might be reasonable to conclude that he was framed as he claims. Itās a shame - on my part - that I needed to be tittilated to have this everyday glimpse of the court system brought to my attention.
