Discussion for article #232220
Eyal Ben-Reuven, a reserve Israeli general and former deputy head of its northern command, said the presence of such a high-ranking official on Israel’s doorstep indicated that Hezbollah and Iran were planning something big against Israel.
Bullshit. Just plain Bullshit. Israel saw a chance to pick off an Iranian officer and also possibly someone on their assassination list. This was murder.
Hezbollah has its hands full fighting ISIS right now. Hezbollah’s plans for “something big” entail maintaining sound defensive positions so that they defeat Israel’s next ground excursion into Lebanon, something they are getting very good at with Iranian help.
Netanyahu…
Former candidate for IDF chief of staff Yoav Galant had linked the attack on the Hezbollah convoy to the political climate surrounding the upcoming Israeli elections, saying that “from past events you can learn that sometimes there is timing that is not unrelated to campaigns.”Jerusalem Post
Gosh, netanyahu drumming up a new war and killing a bunch of people to improve his electoral prospects? What a surprise.
Good comments so far. The best the IDF can claim is that it was suspicious about a high-ranking official visiting a tense border reason, so it resorted to murder.
I hope North Korea doesn’t use that rationale next time a U.S. President tours the DMZ. But if they do, I guess Netanyahu and the IDF are alright with it.
Fucking animals. (Hey, that’s what Likud and the IDF call Palestinians, what’s the problem?)
I was going to post “why isn’t Israel considered a terrorist state, like North Korea?”
Then I remembered that we run diplomatic shotgun for them at the UN and we just plain bully/intimidate the EU and most small nations.
