Discussion: All-Male Senate Judiciary Republicans Hire Outside Attorney For Kavanaugh Hearing

Excellent. I think it flies too.

I did wonder about that. I expect that the Democrats would be perfectly comfortable asking questions of both Kavanaugh and Ford, so it will be incongruous if the Republicans defer to an outside counsel while the Democrats do their own questioning.
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), a member of the committee, confirmed Tuesday that rather than ask questions himself on Thursday, “I’m going to let the professional person do it.”
He has a JD and worked as a judge advocate in the military. A large percentage of politicians were lawyers before they got elected. So how exactly are they not qualified to conduct the hearing themselves?

Genius–that is such a cosmetic surprise!
No one will guess the reason behind this decision.

How many votes from the GOP on the Committee went to David “I Am Collateral Damage of MeToo and I Will Join the Trump Legal Team When Invited” Boies.

If I were Ford, I’d sit there and state that I wouldn’t answer any questions aside from my opening statement unless I was being questioned by a Senator like how it’s been done since the beginning. Grassley hiring outside counsel is a naked attempt to shield the GOP from bad optics.

If I were Avenatti, I’d release all the info I have immediately.

Yeah, I think we’re all pretty clear on that, Lindsey. You’ve kept them in the closet for a lot of years.

Avenatti is not interested in getting information out, he is interesting in being at the center of the narrative. In doing so, he is helping to put Kavanaugh on the Court.

Part of why Ford and Ramerez look credible is that they were both dragged into this. Anyone who Avenatti (perhaps I should call him “dilletanti”) puts forward after several rounds of media teasing will be tainted from the start.

Dilletanti’s shtick is getting old at this point.

“The all-male contingent of Senate Judiciary Committee Republicans have hired an outside attorney, a woman, to ask questions at Thursday’s hearing with Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh and Christine Blasey Ford…”

Leave it to a bunch of rich, white Republicans to outsource good-paying American jobs.

Perhaps the Democrats should hire Mr. Avenatti – he seems pretty up on his game and quite well-versed in the topic at hand.

“‘I’m not big into my feelings,’ [Graham] continued."

Great God almighty, we need a dance remix of that.

A moron of morons.

If the GOP senators feel unqualified to do the tasks that go with their positions, they should resign right now (and turn in any law licenses they might still hold). Graham basically called himself “unprofessional”
