As we start seeing legal consequences for all this stuff, as they start asking that lawsuits be dismissed and issuing denials of ever having done one wrong thing and so forth, MRDA is going to be a handy shorthand to say well, yeah, that’s what we’d think you’d say.

But Jones’ lawyers say Gilmore is what’s known as a “limited-purpose public figure,” and as such must prove malicious intent.

In contrast to Jones, who is a “limited-intelligence public figure.”

Irritating how he survives so much Whack A Mole.

It’s always funny to see creeps like Alex Jones and Rush Limbaugh use the “I’m just an entertaining clown” defense.

They always like to talk up what tough guys they are, but when the shit hits the fan, they’re just a bunch of whiny infants.

Hope the judge tells Jones not a chance!

I am still surprised that while Gawker was put out of business for publishing a video that was true and accurate, this guy has been spewing bat guano for decades unpunished.

Jones has, in another lawsuit, had to put on official record that his show is bullshit and a total farce. Not in those exact words, but he folds like the canker sore he is the instant any real light is shined on his house of ass-hattery. These oozing pustules (Limbaugh, Jones, et al) make staggering amounts of money, so legal battles/legal settlements mean next to nothing to them financially. They even get to play the victim card when anyone calls them out on their brazen lies/conspiracies. Makes me wonder if it’s worth suing them at all.

Hope the judge denies this wimp’s request!

The message ought to be Alex, if you can’t pay the dime, then don’t commit the offense you, POS!

It is always worth it to do so, if for no other reason than to make them defend their BS.

One of the problems with people (er persons, maybe humaniod life-form?) is to keep their audience coming back they have to keep upping the BS factor.
And calling some one a “limited-purpose public figure” is really stretching in my view. If we can condone harassment of a witness to a crime or incident then that is going to suck for law enforcement.

OK, I’ll bite. How should video of somebody being being run over by a car and killed by a white supremacist be taken trivially?

Didn’t Fox “news” use that defense in court?
