Discussion: Alaska Senators Huddle In McConnell's Office On O'Care Repeal

Why doesnā€™t Russia just re-possess Alaska? Donnie would be fine with that. Problem solvedā€¦

Unfortunately, Lisa Murkowski suggested her support for Medicaid expansion in Alaska hinges on support from the Legislature, which previously sued over Gov. Bill Walkerā€™s decision to expand the program. (ADN)

I can only hope her support of Planned Parenthood will still make her vote No.

Sullivan will just do what is expedient.

These Alaskans are kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place. Alaska is a welfare state. The residents not only donā€™t pay any state taxes, they get a check every year just for living there because of the oil extraction deals they set up. Federal taxpayers wind up paying for a lot of ordinary crap because our noble Senators trade votes for handouts for Alaskans. Remember the Bridge to Nowhere?

Did you hear about the midnight rambler
Heā€™ll leave his footprints up and down your hall
And did you hear about the midnight gambler
And did you see me make my midnight call
And if you ever catch the midnight rambler
Iā€™ll steal your mistress from under your nose
Iā€™ll go easy with your cold fanged anger
Iā€™ll stick my knife right down your throat, baby
And it hurts!

Ron Johnson said something on Morning Joe that I am surprised did not get more attention He said that the CBO numbers were wrong because most of the 22 million who would lose insurance already had, so the real number was 7 million. I imagine that presages another frontal attack on the CBO numbers or some fudging to make that number a lot smaller. I wonder though whether that will influence senators who no matter what the CBO says will have a lot of constituents losing Medicaid and having their premiums jacked insanely. Theres also the matter of doing a 30 year revenue projection rather than a 10 year one, as is usual. Both are insane, but the 30 year makes their predictions look better and easier to lower all taxes.

ā€ā€¦Alaska, a far-flung sparsely populated state with the highest health care costs in the country.ā€

Thatā€™s really just a misleading, statistical aberration.

Medical expenditure for substance-abuse, unintended pregnancies, and drunk-snowmobiling injuries actually plummet if you just exclude one or two Palins from the data sample.

When you replace sex ed with abstinence only the Trumpian explanation of ā€œWho knew . . .ā€ takes on real meaning.

I have a suggestion for you Mitch: Sacks of cash, large denomination, unmarked and non-sequential serial numbers after all it worked for you because this bill sure as hell doesnā€™t help the folks you claim to represent and other then just being flat out evil I can think of no other reason for your support of this bill.

Trump promised no Medicaid, Medicare, or social security cuts. Republicans and Trumpsā€™ deathcare plan takes away $770 dollars from Medicaid. Trump will be the biggest liar in presidential history on his promise to not cut Medicaid. This cut to Medicaid is one of the biggest cuts to the program since it was first created and will continue cutting Medicaid for decades. It is devastating, and will cause $208 thousand unnecessary deaths.

Well, Iā€™ll go ahead and say it although it shouldnā€™t need to be said: why would anyone vote for national legislation that will take away healthcare from up to 22 million people? Just how much Splendaā„¢ in the hemlock makes that a refreshing drink at all?

I suppose these private meetings and then talking about it briefly are the Republican substitute for hearings. Kind of like a hearing in that there is probably some information sharing - but more like a talking to ā€¦ in the woodshed.

They are purposely misconflating numbers now in an effort to mislead the public. That is why so many are claiming that there are still 27 million uninsured right now today under Obamacare. By Friday, its going to be that they actually cover more people (27 million - 23 million they are losing) instead of the actual over 50 million uninsured (27 million + 23 million).

Moderates Always Cave. If they were serious about their constituents, nothing in the shape of the current bill would be acceptable. Instead, they just want to save face a little.
