Discussion: Alaska’s 2 GOP Senators Call For Trump To Drop Out

Murkowski:

He has forfeited the right to be our party’s nominee.

Donald J. Trump received more Republican primary votes than anyone in the history of the Republican Party. He is a 2016 Republican to the core. He is the chosen leader of our time. This is who Republican voters admire. He is the Republican party.

I have to admit, my first reaction was “Do we really need 2 senators for Alaska?” :smirk:

Senators for the record - assume that Trump refuses to drop out -

But they never said a peep as Trump was making racist remarks all year.

They can go to hell.

Been saying that for the last five or six elections, at least. The trend doesn’t bode well for the future.

Well, maybe Trump’s nomination is the boil that once lanced will let the fever out.

One can dream, can’t one?

Pretty funny when you consider Murkowski could not get the GOP nomination when she ran for reelection in 2010. Joe Miller won the 2010 Alaskan Republican Senate Primary but Murkowski went on to win as a write-in candidate. She should know better than anyone how crazy the Republican base is.

It’s ironic they’re turning Trump into an African American.

He savaged white women (a bridge too far) and so Republicans have to figuratively lynch him.

It isn’t the “statements” he made that are the problem. How many congress-people would survive being recorded when they didn’t know it, and having that made public?

Zero.

The issue here is that he has admitted to being a serial perpetrator of sexual assault.

…and the Constitution SAYS…yes!

Unfortunately I think it is a dream. There is a significant faction of the GOP who have said Trump is not really a Republican, let alone a true conservative. They will rally the religious right faction to nominate an evangelical from the Cruz/Pence wing. The boil will not be lanced and the fever broken until the country soundly rejects their attempt to convert the US into a false Xtian theocracy.

lol GOPer “leadership”. You led your constituents all the way to the cliff, one short sighted self serving step at a time, and behold! They jumped off. You have failed America. We only have two political parties, and we need both of them to work. But you broke yours. Never mind this turd you nominated and continue to support, you all need to resign in shame. It’s not Donald. Donald is a clown, a puppet, which you cynically offered up to be president. The GOP, all of you, crapped on America. If you hold public office, you need to resign yourselves.

The media and establishment want me out of the race so badly - I WILL NEVER DROP OUT OF THE RACE, WILL NEVER LET MY SUPPORTERS DOWN

That’s right HOTOG! You stick to your guns! You can win this thing - the post-Sunday CNN polls show that you already have!
