After Florida Gov. Rick Scott, a Republican, met with Zinke, the secretary announced that drilling would be âoff the tableâ for waters in the eastern Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean off Florida.
Washington, Oregon and California want the same. Let them drill off the coasts of Alabama, South Carolina and Texas.
Oil is a dying industry. Sea food harvesting has a much brighter future in Alaska, assuming the Arctic Ocean survives. The fossil fuel corporations will take as much oil and leave as big a mess as these deregulating fools will allow.
STATES RIGHTS! STATEâS RIGHTS! STATEâS RIGHTS! Oh, whatâs that? Godâs Own Party controls the Federal Government now? WHY ARE A THESE SPECIAL INTEREST CRYBABIES HOLDING BACK AMERICA???
Shorter GOP: Drilling is meant to for Blue States only. We want to destroy The Democrats.
You can see why thereâs an overwhelming drive for thisâthe oil companies drill wherever they want, and keep the profits. And the more lax the regulations and oversight, the more laissez-faire the general attitude, the less likely it is the company wonât pay anything like the full costs of remediating damage to the environment. With enough indulgence they canât lose. But the states can. So I guess thatâs where the action is right now.
As the price of oil falls more oil is needed to maintain profit margins. Zinke is giving the gift of cheap production to the petroleum queens. Never mind that we have gotten to where it is destructive to burn that oil. Short term profits and long term problems are the GOP brand these days.

Once Zinkeâs buffoons finish carving out âexemptionsâ all that will be left to drill is that beach Chris Christie was vacationing on.
Run for office- the 2018 elections are 10 months away! And if Trump and Louie Gohmert and Steve King can get elected whatâs to stop a qualified candidate?
Become a Precinct Committee Officer, sometimes itâs a Ward officer. Youâll meet with neighborhood Dems and get out the vote. Find good citizens willing to run for office.
Register people to vote. If you need to help people overcome the GOP-led Voter run-around help them do that.
Run for School Board. Make sure Civics is being properly taught. Think a majority of America knows how government works? Just 26% of eligible voters in America voted for Trump and half of eligible voters stayed home last November. Todayâs 12-year olds will be voting for President in 8 years.
Run for Mayor, City Council, County Commissioner, Borough Assembly.
Get appointed to your Planning Commission. Know everything going on in your community.
Run for State Legislature or Congress. The next census is in 2020, just a year and a half from now, when we redraw Congressional Districts. And Trump is ALREADY trying to rig the census!
And get rid of GERRYMANDERING! Safe GOP seats gave us such intellectual giants as Louie Gohmert and Steve King. In most cases itâs the state Legislature that draws Congressional boundaries. Make it FAIR, OPEN and HONEST! We can do this!
Overturn Citizens United. Money is NOT speech and Corporations are NOT people- at least not until Texas executes one, and overturn any voter ID laws that are clearly an attempt to disenfranchise the poor and people of color.

The Alaskan GOOPs got the headlines, doesnât mean other targeted coastal states arenât also objecting.
But ⌠but ⌠but Alaskan fishing is only a sustainable $5.9 billion industry. How the hell is Rexxon, Pruitt and Pals supposed to extract wealth from that?
Alaska has been trending blue slowly but surely for the past two decades. The greed and arrogance of the Trump administration might accelerate the process.

All of the red states with oil off their coast want, expect, and no doubt will get, exemptions to Zinkeâs oil drilling plan. Drilling platforms off the coast, occasionally exploding and gushing staggering amounts of oil (because, regulations are for suckers) is just for blue states.
Donât they want to make American great again?
But unless they are red states, their objections will not be acted on.
Florida already got its special treatment.
Except Trump doesnât want to give any exemptions, even near Mar-a-Diablo, and ripped up Floridaâs waiver. Zinke was talking out his ass.
