$51,000 is the cheapest add buy that Gov. Bentley and the GOP have ever made to fluff their base during Primary hunting season.

Yup. It only encourages other states to follow suit. This is free TV time for re-election.

Yeah. For pain and suffering…but it wasn’t that kind of case. It was a regulatory contractual agreement thing under Medicaid I believe. Too bad though. Alabama and other States were and are trying to inconvenience a lot of families I’m sure with this bullshit, and downright messing with their free and legal access to those services.

Actually, it’s free to the GOP because the taxpayers are funding it.

I believe there are two costs associated with the Governor’s grandstanding. One, of course, is the 51k payable by the Alabama taxpayers. The other is the indirect responsibility of the Governor for the events in Colorado Springs. When you file frivolous lawsuits and engage in demagoguery, it’s not surprising someone with a tenuous grip on reality is going to act out.

Unfortunately, it’s not them that will pay. It is the taxpayers.

Oooooh – that should twist the Christianic extremists’ peckers into a knot.

But hey, on the bright side, they’re Alabama taxpayers.

$51K strongly suggests that the lawyer or team for Planned Parenthood on this challenge really weren’t forced to pull out all stops on this case. Rather, it suggests they prepared for a stronger, or at least more superficially competent case coming into court on behalf of the state, but what actually happened was hollow or incompetent or ridiculous or whatever, but in any event really not much if anything.

The Bentley administration is packed to the rafters with cronies and political appointees with zero competence at governance.

“Had the governor checked beforehand, he would have known that,” ACLU attorney Randall Marshall, who represented Planned Parenthood Southeast, told the Montgomery Advertiser.

Check the facts? Where the hell is the fun in that?

LOL!!! YAY!!! :relaxed:

There really is some justice in Alabama, after all. This is a start.

This is a nice two-fer along with Posner’s 7th District ruling on Wisconsin’s predatory clinic regulations. Surprised none of this stuff has risen to the Supreme Court by now, but it wouldn’t surprise me if they’re deliberately slow-walking appeals until after the election…

Yeah, well, she’s still making me a sandwich!!!

And therein lies the problem. These fascist assholes can file these meritless harassment lawsuits without any personal repercussions. And, sadly, the clueless rubes will cheer them on.

Well, it also creates pro- PP case law and fills the ACLU coffers. So I don’t see this as a bad thing.
