Discussion: Alabama Sets Up 'Canary In The Coal Mine' For Bannon-McConnell Feud

If there is a better description of Alabama than ā€œStuck on stupidā€ I havenā€™t heard it.

Peak Bannon has come and gone.

Breitbart will give the idiot a megaphone, but his 15 minutes is up. All that is left is a decline into a noisy, booze-clouded irrelevance.

Good riddance.

Yeah, I think so too.

He will, like Caribou Barbie, continue to draw headlines for a while, but, again like Caribou Barbie, heā€™ll fade off into insignificance with the occasional mouth flap still getting some media attention. But more as a footnote than anything else.

Youā€™re FLAGGED.

As for Bible Spice, she serves as an occasional reminder of why we are justified to passionately hate John ā€œSid McCrashcupā€ McCain for all of eternity.

I am not so sure. He has the enthusiastic backing of the evil Mercers, and all that money can fuel a lot of media presence. HeĀ“ll be around until the Mercers dump him, which wonĀ“t be any time soon.

Me too.

Yup, youā€™re right. The question is how many losses does he have to rack up before even the Mercers decide heā€™s a waste of money? Assuming, of course, that the Mercers are interested in an ROI which doesnā€™t mean just whipping up the dedicated slavering base. (Even Limbaugh lost backersā€¦and who hears much out of olā€™ Billy-O these days?)

The thing is, if Bannon had never existed, Roy Moore would still win this in a walk. Roy Moore personifies rural Alabama. Trump carried Alabama with 62.08% of the vote. Roy Moore and Donald Trump are on exactly the same wavelength as far as Alabama Republicans are concerned. Remember, this is Jefferson Beauregard Sessions old seat they are running for. Bannon is just trying to scrape some gravy off of a sure thing.

Whoā€™s the Democrat? Or is the party, in itā€™s wisdom, letting the Senate seat go uncontested?

Political action committees should be taxed 10% of unadjusted gross revenue, right off the top. They are no different from the disabled veterans, families of fallen law enforcement officers and breast cancer survivors who keep calling my telephone to ask for money. 95% of the money goes to pay the ownerā€™s salary.

If Moore wins, and then weā€™ll definitely know that AL should become the next KS. Maybe we could use them for an experiment far greater than Brownback ever dreamed of taking KS.
Plus Moore will get some Turtle ire directed at him like heā€™s never seen before.

Maybe, but recall that Palin had no large set of financial resources and had to grift so much that she wore out her welcome and is now left with a small celebrity cult and eventual Home Shopping Network notoriety.

Bannon, however, has Mercer Money at his disposal (for now). This people are super rich and extremely nuts. They can put some wind in his sails for a while.

I donā€™t think this election really speaks to Bannonā€™s power. Alabama re-elected Moore after he lost his judgeship, so they are plenty crazy themselves.

Seriously! Are we just gonna go back to ā€œitā€™s a no-win, woe is meā€ mentality for these places? Deanā€™s 50 state strategy was starting to get results before the DNC yanked the football away.

Whatever happens, one thing is for sure: Itā€™ll be a Strange election.

Iā€™ve said it before out here: Iā€™m rooting for Roy Moore. I want him elected and then for Democrats in the Senate to block him from taking his seat. And put all the Republicans on the hot seat.

You know a political party is in trouble when the state with the worst educational system in the country is serving as the proxy for the direction that party is going to take.

Neil Young was right about Alabama when he first started singing that song back in the 70sā€¦
