Discussion for article #232473
Just what part of the phrase āequal protection under the lawā do those probate judges NOT understand?
Alabama Mississippi, Texas, Kansas, Oklahoma, oh Arizona, too, itās a race for the title of most Constitutionally ignorant state in the nation.
Can you say ācontempt of courtā?
Sure ā I knew you could!
Is there another Selma-like march needed on the horizon?
Keep on kicking and screaming, it wonāt helpā¦
Whatever, ostriches.
Opps you forgot tenn. we are our own country or at least trying to be. Mr 2 billion dollar govenor can buy it any which way he wants. So far itās for the goody people and the rest may rot in peace.
Expect a blistering clarification from the Judge - not on the ruling, but on the practical effects of such a ruling in 3ā¦2ā¦1ā¦
āThe Alabama Probate Judges Association wants to ensure that all Alabamians are clear that, 1) āprobateā is a funny word, and 2) Fridayās ruling does not open the door for the issuance of same sex marriage licenses, so you can go right on baking your completely heterosexual wedding cakes.ā
If you donāt want to serve the publicā¦ the WHOLE public, then donāt become a public servant.
Oh Alabama Probate Judges Association____you ignorant sluts! This same ~snicker!~ āreasoningā worked so well in Florida, huh? _______ Iām not a constitutional scholar or lawyer, but when I read, āIT IS FURTHER ORDERED that ALA.CONST.ART.I, Ā§ 36.03 (2006) and ALA. CODE 1975 Ā§ 30-1-19 are unconstitutional because they violate they Due Process Clause and the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment,ā as written by District Judge Granade, I understood that those laws were unconstitutional, not just for the plaintiffs, but for the State of Alabama. Too difficult for you to understand, you homophobic scumsucking twits? Constitutional and civil rights are NOT settled one person, or couple, at a time.
Judge Greg Norris is proof that mindless animus (ala the depraved George Wallaceās demonstration against integration in the schoolhouse door) exists against the LGBT community and that depraved and loathsome assh*les are judges in Alabama.
Letās see what Judge Granade has to say about the effects and interpretation of her ruling. I think a huge judicial bitchslapā awakening is coming to Norris et al.
Speaking with utter legal persnicketiness, he has a point. Judges can refuse to issue marriage licenses until the moment that a ruling is issued that the striking-down of the ban means they have to issue licenses to same-sex couples. Itās like the assh*le prosecutors who donāt free innocent prisoners when their convictions are vacated, and instead wait until a court actually orders the prisoner freed.
He then followed up with: āOur cash-rich state will just wait for yet another court proceeding to remind us about the equal protection clause after a long and protracted series of lawsuits, before we issue licenses. Because hey, weāve nothing better to do with our time and money.ā

After reading this article on saving Roe v Wade I think they should argue for gay marriage on 1st Amendment grounds instead of equal protection.
I would have so much fun as a lawyer suing these probate judges or counties. Does Section 1983 apply to judges and counties? Attorneys fees and sanctions against the county for frivolously defending a lawsuit to get a marriage license? The possibilities are endless.
They could possibly take it out of the salary of Alabama football coach Nick Saban, but again, they do have their
āpiroritiesā in Bama.
Yep; after all, Granadeās ruling only said that they ācannot enforceā the ban on same-sex marriage; nothing in there about requiring them to allow it!
Somehow, I suspect that interpretation isnāt going to last long past tomorrow.
Similar to Gov. George Wallace standing in the school house door, their actions will not stand. The law and the tide of history are against them.
āThe Confederacy will not be cowed by a Yankee court!ā Agricola later tweeted.
