Hmm…the Big Tent Party of Lincoln is a party that accepts all criminals, bigots, racists, women haters, women beaters, rapists, and liars…they are the Leadership, they are the Family Values party…I have gone from Never Trump, to, “I really hate this fucking guy”…this party is morally bankrupt, ethically devoid, and unable to govern…This is their only strength, to be corrupt…and this guy proves it…again…
I don’t follow corruption cases much. Is 20 years for each conviction a normal sentence? This seems excessive to me.
Oh, Susanna…
I think it’s time to change a few street names in Alabamy.
My cup of schadenfreude runneth over.
Absolute power corrupts absolutely.
To keep Republicans honest, Alabama needs to bring back true competition between political parties.
Vote Democratic. No one is forcing anyone to have an abortion. Believe me, you’ll like having a choice.
The jury convicted Hubbard on charges that he used his office to solicit consulting contracts from several companies and then taking action to benefit them. The panel also convicted Hubbard, closely associated with the business wing of the state GOP, on charges that he asked four corporate executives to make $150,000 investments in his debt-ridden printing companies.
This is obviously wrong, but I confess I really don’t know where the line is.
In my mind, most lobbyists engage in nothing more than low grade bribery, but that’s somehow legal.
And why isn’t Trump and the Florida attorney general in trouble for an obvious quid pro quo?
Good-bye Mike Hubbard!
Don’t let the door hit you on your ass on the way out the door and good luck with your stay in prison!
The top of each branch of Alabama government --House Speaker, Governor, Chief Justice-- is in some sort of scandal. It’s looking more and more like a banana republic.
Hmmm, Alabanana?
If you listen to talk radio, Fox or national Republican pundits, the Democratic Party is the party of corruption – and Hillary who’s never been indicted or convicted of anything – and has been accused of many things that have been disproven many, many times – is the poster child: “Crooked Hillary.” They stick to this message simply by ignoring the multiple corruption convictions of high GOP officials ( McDonnell, Ney, Cunningham); by excusing but mainly ignoring serious scandals (governors Deal, Bentley, Walker, Christie, Scott, Perry); and now by pretending that Trump’s multiple lost lawsuits didn’t ever happen. Propaganda is a useful tool sometimes.
I’ve noticed lately a lot of Republicans have started using the term “The Party of Abraham Lincoln,” when describing the Republican Party of today!
They might been a party all right, but not of Abraham Lincoln, but of Jefferson Davis, the President of the Confederate States!
This is one of the funniest talking points of the GOP – paired with: it was Democrats who supported slavery and opposed Civil Rights. You can counter this argument a thousand different ways, but don’t waste your time: anyone who’s making this argument doesn’t have the capacity to reason.
“the one-time GOP star guilty of 12 counts of public corruption”
We’re going to need more old, white, gop/bag, southern, racist, state officials in Alabama, STAT!
/snark
HA!
Perfect!
Alabama is an excellent test case for what happens when you turn power over to the party of good Christian white people with bedrock American values, who’ll know what’s right and get it done.
Let’s just say it’s not working.
Wonderful news!
He’ll be rescued by Chief Justice Roberts. The man will find a constitutional reason to rescue this crook and criminal just as he did Governor Forced Transvaginal Probing Without Consent Bob McConnell.
My computer was a little slow on loading, for a few seconds the title of the article was Alabama Ho, how appropriate.
Another dirty republican. Heart be still.
The voters in Alabama elected this guy. They also reelected the now twice-ex-Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court Roy Moore. Luckily someone is looking out for these voters, even if they can’t seem to look out for themselves or their best interests. They’re too busy embracing hateful religious-right rhetoric, making them putty in the hands of people like Hubbard and Moore.
