Discussion: Alabama Guv Defends State Helicopter Delivering His Wallet: I Had To Eat!

His little bimbo on the side would have gotten mad at him if she’d had to pay for dinner that night.

Have some sympathy!

Cannot borrow a few bucks from a friend? Don’t have a friend. How about standing on the corner asking for money like the homeless in your State. Heck, Steve Croft (60 minutes guy) had me (a stranger) buy him a beer and sandwich. Maybe I’ll get it back someday, but I’m not worried. Had the Guv asked me to buy him lunch, I would have. I know his policies are disgusting, but I still would have bought him lunch.

Bentley’s acknowledgment came after AL.com confirmed that a helicopter belonging to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency traveled for four hours on the day after Christmas in 2014, leaving Montgomery for Tuscaloosa before delivering Bentley’s wallet to him in Gulf Shores.

Montgomery to Tuscaloosa to Gulf Shores and back to Montgomery is 466 miles. In case you were wondering.

Bentley said the helicopter delivery “looks bad,”

Yeah, you could say that.

He’s probably telling the truth about not demanding a helicopter flight for his wallet. Once you’ve established a certain level of corruption, favoritism and fear among subordinates, they think of things like that on their own initiative.

What I would love to have seen is the conversation between his ex-wife-to-be and the state trooper who retrieved the wallet. “Uh, ma’am, the governor said he forgot his wallet. Could I please enter your house to retrieve it? Why no, ma’am, I don’t have a warrant…”

Bub, break your vow to your wife and disrespect her in the process and you don’t deserve to eat… wallet or no wallet.

Any pilots here? I’m guessing with crew and holiday pay, the chopper had to cost upwards of $1000/hr. Perhaps the good governor could look into this and pull an Amex card out of his wallet to cover the expense.

An uh, he’s the freaking governor for Christ’s sake (am sure he thinks his election was divinely inspired), couldn’t he just say, “I’m the governor, please make me a sandwich, bring me a triple martini and send the bill to my office.”?

This made me think at once of when an earlier generation of Republicans accused FDR of leaving his dog, Fala, behind on one of the Aleutian Islands, and sending a destroyer back–at taxpayer expense–to pick him up.

I do not care what they do in their personal life unless they paint themselves as pious Christians. Hypocrisy should be the 8th deadly sin.

You’re so disliked no one in your entourage would lend a couple of bucks for Burger King? Your audience is so stupid they wouldn’t recognize a sitting governor? You have way bigger problems.

Why do creepy old men give creepy old men answers to justify the creepy old man favors they asked for?

He stood excessively close to the copter, caressed its rotors and whispered into its cockpit…

Shades of Chris Christie, who had a state helicopter deliver himself to his son’s little league game. I think maybe he had a state car to take him the last couple hundred feet.

Guess we’ll just have to start making up new ones. For this guy, I propose “kraflumptk.”

Which, not coincidentally, is the noise a cow patty makes when it falls upon bare earth.

" reportedly after getting into a fight with his then-wife, because he needed money to eat."
The ex wife put her foot up your butt so hard and so often you got out of dodge and realized you had no money.OUCH!!

Excuse me…EXCUSE ME!!! Your the most powerful man in the state. You have an entourage almost 24/7 except when you are in bed at night and it seems some of your entourage may have even been in the bed with you…Tee Heee!!! ! Are you trying to tell me that one of your hangers on flunkies wouldn’t have a card or cash to take care of business until say the next day delivery of a fed ex package which…I’m gonna go out on a limb here but…I’m guessing even the fastest over night courier service would have cost maybe 1/1000 of the cost to fly a helicopter back and forth …Just guessing mind you but I got a hunch I’m right!
