Discussion: Alabama GOPer Vows To Impeach Gov. Bentley Amid Affair Allegations

But he’s unimpeachable, a family values guy — a Christian!

Oh, damn. He’s been kicked out of his church. It’s becoming harder and harder to be a babble-thumping hypocrite these days.

If they really loved God and His word, they would stone him for adultery, not impeach him. How limp-wristed liberal of him!

Bentley later said in a bizarre news conference that he did not have a physical relationship with Mason. But the governor did apologize for “the things that I said” that were reported in the press, calling those statements “inappropriate.”

So is this Bentley’s Bill Clinton moment? “I did not have sexual relations with that woman.”

I find it highly amusing that it’s GOP/TPers who are bent on nailing Bentley’s hide to the doors of the state capitol building in Montgomery.

Well what is fair is fair after all the gop demanded and got an impeachment over a BJ, one would think from these self righteous pigs an affair deserves like treatment.

They couldn’t do it to Clinton, and they couldn’t do it to Obama, so the Teabaggers gotta find a way to get rid of that impeachment hard-on somehow, even if it means taking down one of their own.

@sonsofares

I’ll bring a dozen or so rocks! :fist: (I don’t "love God’ or anything like that … not that there’s anything wrong with that, if you’re into that …I just want to help them out!)

Well, Rep. Henry, it speaks volumes that Jesus could forgive him but you kaint.

“Bentley later said in a bizarre news conference that he did not have a physical relationship with Mason.”

He did not have sex with that woman.

Wow, republiscums are on the march all over the country, directly to hell we hope!

Misogyny, lying, cheating on spouses, beating on reporters…gosh, is there nothing too low for ®’s to do these days? I guess not.

Hey, wingers are pretty good at beating up on right wing Breitbart reporters too!

With any luck, Bentley will lose his seat in the State House, the girlfriend’s going to move on, but he’ll keep a few things.

Dianne [ex-wife] will get the 2011 Ford Explorer; he will get the 2015 GMC Sierra. The governor will get to keep his lawn mower. She gets her jewelry. He keeps his guns.

I only wish more of these highly flawed individuals were being exposed for what they are. There are plenty of them out there and they are fueled by having bent and twisted their religion to fit their wants and needs, with no concern for anyone but themselves.

Christians. Sigh. While Christianity, especially fundamentalist chrisianity claims to be about forgiveness and inclusiveness, the punishment for sexual transgressions is often to be ostracized.

Which is strange, because Christians are more likely to commit sexual transgressions.

So now you want to kick a governer out. If he abused power, go for it. But sex? Come on? Is it illegal?

There is a story in the book of John, almost certainly a later addition, about a woman caught in adultry. In this story, Jesus shames the crowd on their own sins to keep them from stoning her. The story doesn’t seem to match up with the rest of the book, but it’s point is clear: worry about your own sins first. Of course, Jesus and his early followers were all convinced the world was ending soon, so focusing on following the law yourself was important.

He’s futzing around with an adult female human who is not related to him. That’s practically family values time in the GOP.

Every time someone tells me about all the support they get from their church, I think of things like this. Here is a man who clearly needs help and support, and rather than providing it he is kicked out.

I hope, as I hope for all, friend and foe, that he can find peace without god.

I know nothing about Alabama state politics, and honestly, I don’t think I want to. But precisely what law did the governor break to warrant impeachment? It is true of Clinton, as it is true of Bentley. I don’t care who they are bangin’ on the side, just so long as they are doing their job. And even if they aren’t I will try to impeach them for being a terrible governor, not because he was sexting. Ridiculous.

Kicked out of church ? ? —

That’s as bad as breaking any law down there —

It took the Republican Party, nationally speaking, only 15 years and a couple hundred exemptions (of adultery committing Republicans) to find one single solitary Republican willing to apply their rules for everyone else to one of theirs.
