Discussion: Alabama GOPer Pushes Bill To Regulate Abortion Clinics Like Sex Offenders

Discussion for article #246367

Love the photo…he has precisely the smug look on his face I expected. You know, that look a total ignoramus gets when he thinks he’s doing something really clever. It’s very Dunning-Krueger.

He told the Times Daily that he was not attempting to limit the number of abortion clinics in Alabama. But he insisted that they should not be located across the street from a school “because they do tend to cause a certain amount of commotion on a regular basis.”

I assume that right now representatives of the Alabama education system are high fiving as a result of this fine example of their success.

I think that is the look you’d get in the first or second generation born in Galt’s Gulch. It would get rapidly worse after that.

This was in John Oliver’s excellent take on anti-abortion laws. If you missed the video, I recommend you watch the whole thing. If you just want to focus on how shameful this jerk is, it starts at about the 10:25 mark.

Well, that and more than a little fetal alcohol syndrome…

Seriously…it’s the same reasoning that leads them to blame Obama for “dividing the country”.

“Well, you know, if he wasn’t so intent on being black, then we wouldn’t be throwing such a nutty…so it’s totally his fault that we’ve reacted this way and the country is divided.”

“Well, you know, if they weren’t offering abortion services, then we wouldn’t be protesting outside their doors and disrupting the neighborhood, so it’s totally their fault that the neighborhood is being disrupted.”

And speaking of sex offenders…

Like this clown has ever been in an abortion clinic. Oh, and the “commotion” he is referring to are likely the abortion protestors that want to ram their religious beliefs down our throat.

Commotion? That sounds impolite.

A bill mandating open carry of firearms by all protesters outside abortion clinics within 300 feet of a school would, by application of 2nd-amendment magic, eliminate commotion while also improving the safety of the students.

A certain amount of commotion? Is he referring to all the loud party girls who show up to get an abortion in the middle of their pub crawl? Or is he referring to anti-abortion protesters on his own side? Perhaps he should stop blaming the victim and outlaw commotions near schools instead.

Because I once lived near an abortion clinic and the only way I knew it was an abortion clinic was during Lent and Advent when they’d show up for a few weeks with their signs helpfully informing me that it was an abortion clinic; which was nice to know in case I needed one. And then they’d go back to their regular lives pretending they somehow had made the world a better place. That’s one way I knew the holidays were coming, because they’d show up.

Maybe the protesters would exercise a little discretion and behave a little better during the school day? He’s an amazingly smug little turd.

“We can put a restriction on whether a liquor store opens up across the street…"

From the same guys who want to overturn laws banning the carrying of guns near those same schools.

across the street (state road 53 - a 4 lane + center turning lane - highway) from a middle school, exposes children to undue “commotion.” … commotion ? that is down right dishonest!

Looks like trailer trash. Acts like trailer trash. Is trailer trash.

You know what it’s really not good for kids to walk past? A bunch of anti-choice crusaders with disgusting and disturbing graphic signs. My friend’s daughter went to a school very near a Planned Parenthood and that’s what they were subjected to.

The First Amendment could use a little stricter application when it comes to the kind of disgusting public displays you anti-crusaders put on.

not so much smug; but definitely something hinky… i wonder if there are similar restrictions in place for liquor stores, stores that sell lottery tickets…

Hey, Dan, don’t panic! It’s not contagious!
Once the children are born, they can no longer be aborted.
They can only be removed from their nutter parents.
