Discussion: Alabama GOP Says It 'Supports Judge Roy Moore As Our Nominee'

And there it is. ALGOP is more concerned about winning (and not upsetting Moore’s people) than doing what’s right. I guess they chose option #4- double down on your guy and attack everyone that says Moore should step down.

This is great. Either Moore is defeated, or he’s an anchor around McConnell’s neck

If that’s the hill they want to perish on, I hope it’s prolonged agony.

(But yes, I do remember: this is Alabama).

I totally agree. Either we pick up a seat we have no business winning, or Roy Moore goes to the Senate and makes McConnell’s life a living hell. Either of the two are good outcomes for Democrats.

McConnell will welcome him with open arms - as long as he tows the Republican line (which won’t be a problem - of course he will)

attacking “the media and those from afar” for meddling in Alabama’s Senate election

People just don’t understand. The Alabama Guardians Of Pedophiles is trying to get one of their more outstanding members elected. Next thing you know those pesky outsiders are going to start condemning incest, trying to take away a man’s God-given right to marry his mother to bore his sisters (who he will then “bore,” if you know what I mean).

One of the beauties of Pedo-Royboy getting elected is that this will happen all over again in November 2018 when the regular election is held.

Party on, Rethugliklans!

In South Africa vigilantes used to force a gas-soaked car tire around people and then set it afire. The practice was known as “necklacing.”

There are a lot of parallels here. The main difference, however, is the so-called Party of Lincoln is willingly doing it to themselves.

Good times.

Evidently Roy Moore represents the Alabama GOP in all ways. In a normal place a pedophile like Moore would be disavowed. Alabama ain’t normal.

What a surprise. The Alabama knuckle draggers of the state GOP have decided: “WTF, just because he’s a born-again asshole who likes to fuck little girls, doesn’t mean he can’t be a Senator Alabama can be proud of.”

Home, sweet Alabama. Sad.

“Alabamians will be the ultimate jury in this election- not the media or those from afar.”

I do not recall ANYONE in the GOP taking the “innocent until proven guilty” position as it relates to ANY democrat in ANY position related to ANY wrongdoing. They declared each and every one of them guilty and worthy of the maximum punishment without even a trial on the facts, and that the “facts” as they saw them were incontrovertible and not even worthy of discussion or investigation.

This is not to only point to the double standard they INSIST upon. The point is that “innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt” is the legal standard of proof in criminal cases, as far as the jury can determine and that jury is supposed to be an impartial panel of people who are the peers of the defendant. This is politics where candidates are held to a higher standard of conduct and a lower standard of proof for misdeeds. I’d say that standard is similar to a civil case in court – preponderance of the evidence with the burden of proof on the plaintiff. In that case where the primary evidence is direct testimony, the jury impartially weighs the truthfulness of those testifying and makes a judgment on that. And, unlike a criminal case, such matters can include evidence that just obliquely shows a pattern of activity. (In criminal cases, prior bad acts are not typically admissible.)

On this standard, Moore is already hopelessly defeated. The allegations are many and the denials are self-serving and these copious evidence to the contrary.

And this is my final point on this: Yes, it happened a long time ago and there’s no criminal liability involved even if his actions were subject to prosecution them. He may not be the same person then (who’s the same at 70 as 35?) and he may have given up his hound-dogging young girls at some point. If so, ALL HE HAD TO DO WAS ADMIT HE WAS A WEIRDO BACK THEN AND APOLOGIZE. But no. He took the Trump route and called all those women liars and declared that he’s the victim.

This reactive denial and attack reflects his character TODAY. By calling these women liars – who are clearly telling far more truth than he ever has – he is lying himself since he certainly remembers how he was. And lying about it now when makes him a sinner too, by his own standard. He likes to post the 10 Commandants, right? Preach to us about proper obedience to God, right? Well, I guess he missed that one about not bearing false witness. And that makes him unworthy of being both a senator and some sort of super-Christian hero.

Sounds like it’s a good time for Alabama Dems to recruit strong candidates for every state and local office. “Don’t leave your child unattended with a Republican.”

Nice work Alabama GOP. It’s about what I’d expect from the people who run the state that would have the lowest life expectancy of the 50 states if it weren’t for Mississippi.

Fail.
