Discussion: AL Gov. Apologizes To India For 'Excessive Force' Used On Indian Grandfather

Discussion for article #233390

We here in Alabama would in no way want to let stand the mistaken conclusion that those good people of India, who we’re trying so desperately to lure in order to confer the benefits of mass immigration realized by the agricultural business to the high tech industry in like measure, would in any way, shape, or form be the victim of violent racial discrimination in our fine nation.

This was clearly a case of mistaken identity, and we have since sent out information to all police units instructing them how to distinguish dark-skinned Asians from genuine thugs, including the wearing of baggy pants and hoodies, neither of which Mr. Patel was wearing.

So please, Government of India, send us your best and brightest, and in return we’ll provide jobs, jobs, jobs for your sweatshops.

Third degree assault? WHAT THE FUCK!!! That’s a meaningless misdemeanor. That pig should be charged with FIRST DEGREE assault…a Class B felony in Alabama:

“A person commits a criminal assault first degree if, under circumstances manifesting extreme indifference to the value of human life, they recklessly engage in conduct which creates a grave risk of death to another person, and thereby causes serious physical injury to any person.” (from some Alabama law firm’s website)

The third degree misdemeanor gets rid of the part about indifference and grave risk of death and just makes it an intent to commit physical injury (or recklessness or criminal negligence that causes it). How you can look at that video and not see an extreme indifference and grave risk of death is beyond me. You’ve got an ELDERLY Indian dude IN HANDCUFFS ALREADY who must weigh all of 130 pounds and WHO HAD NO WAY OF PROTECTING HIMSELF, HIS HEAD OR THE REST OF HIS BODY FROM IMPACT WITH THE PAVEMENT who is then ruthlessly and for no discernable reason, excuse or justification whatsoever tripped and slammed to the ground, resulting in a broken back and spinal damage. The result of the cop’s actions is almost res ipsa loquitur with respect to whether there was depraved indifference to the man’s life and actually grave risk of death…YES, HE COULD HAVE FUCKING KILLED THE GUY. The victim is lucky he didn’t bounce his head off the sidewalk or curb hard enough to cause a massive subdural hematoma.

These charges are bullshit…a slap on the wrist and people should outraged. This is a sweeping of it all under the rug and a refusal to acknowledge just how depraved, indifferent and dangerous that pig’s behavior actually was.

And you know what? It’s just too bad that these dash-cams have no audio…because you’d really be hard pressed to sit quietly by while this cop gets charged with basically nothing after doing this while spewing shit like “punjab” and “haji” at this poor man…AND YOU KNOW HE FUCKING DID.

Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley ® - appears to be saying the right things - and hopefully between the local community and the state, arrangement have been made to see that the victim does not have to pay a dime for his medical care - and that the investigation process will proceed - and this policeman will be punished and terminated.

However, were this to have occurred in New York City and this response been provided by Mayor Bill de Blasio (D) - Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association of the City of New York - President Patrick Lynch would go ballistic and would call him every name in the book - and accuse him of betraying the police force.

Patrick is a clown and a jerk. In other words, a Republican.

search around - there is a video with sound - there isn’t any real slurring - just a lot of stupidity - and then monumental stupidity when they were slowly grasping that the guy was genuinely injured - and that was the reason that he could not stand when they ordered him to get up… so to compound the stupidity - they grabbed him & lifted him to a standing position - seriously … you would think that a law enforcement officer would have at least some minimal level of first aid training … and would know that when a person has hit the ground - and appears to not be able to move / indicates that they can’t move …you don’t grab them by the arm and awkwardly haul them up to some sort of a standing position.

I thought we weren’t supposed to apologize to foreign countries.

I wondered was third degree assault meant. Thanks for looking it up. You’re right, he should be charged with first degree assault under color of authority*.

And listen, Mister Sniffit, 57 isn’t all that elderly! Too old (aren’t we all) to be body slammed to the sidewalk, but not “elderly.”

*Under color of authority is a legal phrase used in the US[2] indicating that a person is claiming or implying the acts he or she is committing are related to and legitimized by his or her role as an agent of governmental power, especially if the acts are unlawful. (Wikipedia)

Real patriotic, God-and Jesus-fearing Americans never apologize to foreign countries, especially when they’re filled with icky brown people who worship pagan idols and smell of curry. Impeach Robert Bentley now!

Wait, let me guess. The police officer will be found not guilty because the 57yr old Indian gentleman didn’t comply immediately with his instructions(never mind he was peaceful and didn’t understand English very well) and therefore the officer felt threatened with deadly force. The grandfather should be grateful the officer didn’t just shoot him and claim ground-standing privileges.

Did he communicate with someone actually from India, or did he just find someone on his staff who claimed to be 1/16th Cherokee and apologize to him?

Why apologize to India and NOT the victim??

I’m sorry but apologies that don’t include all of the following are worthless, merely lip service:

  1. A check with at least seven zeros in it (to the left of the decimal point)

  2. An immediate arrest of the assaulting parties

  3. Immediate loss of salary, benefits, pensions, retirements, etc for the involved/accused.

  4. An appropriate punishment for all of those mentioned in #2. Since they tried to kill this man, 20-40 years in prison seems appropriate to me for attempted murder. There is one primary offender and two more accomplices that are just as guilty for enabling this to happen.

  5. Their sentences should NOT be less that what they would receive if they committed this crime in India. Otherwise WHY apologize to India??

  6. An immediate reduction in staff/police of that PD by 50%. If the whole group isn’t punished for the actions of the few, HOW will they ever learn?

Not to worry, when the grandfather gets done susing the state, the police dept, and the officer perhaps Alabama will learn a lesson…NOT!

Haha, fair enough! I was making my case and waxing poetic!

Does the video show the “confrontation” in its entirety as it led up to the abusive tripping?

…and the honorable Gov. Bentley will get around to apologizing for the rest of Alabama when?
