Discussion: Al Gore To Stump For Clinton With Focus On Youth Vote, Global Warming

A confederacy of dunces, fascists, and egomaniacs conspired to keep Gore from his rightful place in the White House, but to young Millenials it’s very ancient history. They’re far more likely to be familiar with the cartoon Al Gore who was lampooned in South Park.

Hope he reminds them that they actually have to go to the polls to cast their votes.

I prefer a duncy of Confederates

So, this is the guy who made up the global warming hoax? Funny, he doesn’t look Chinese.

a long list of powerhouse Clinton surrogates that includes both the President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama, former President Bill Clinton, and, increasingly, former members of the George W. Bush administration.

Hillary needs to gin up a commercial with the theme “All living US Presidents endorse Hillary”. The only one missing so far is Dubya, and I imagine he’d fall in line if mommy told him to. On the other hand, there is the question of whether an endorsement from Dubya would help or hurt. I certainly didn’t do JEB! any good.

Andrea Greenspan was breathless about this announcement coming last night. I greet it with a bit of yawn, to be honest.

His support and going out to stump is certainly welcome, but its mostly about preaching to the choir, particularly environmentalists who are largely in Hillary’s camp anyway.

He is not an ambassador to millennials, however.

I am thinking more along the lines of getting Beyonce to have Hillary’s Back, for that sort of role. And while she has shown up at some fund raisers, her public support has been a bit tepid.

Has anyone noticed how many tier one modern day Republicans are on the campaign trail for Trump? #rhetorical

She’s on tour. Now maybe the campaign and her representatives can get together for an event, but sometimes a candidate has to deal with the hand that she (in this case) has been dealt. That hand that Clinton has as of today is pretty darn good.

I’m sure Al Gore will appeal to millennials the same way Pauly Shore or Carrot Top would.

I have to think Beyonce would do it if Michelle asked. They hang out, spend weekends at Camp David and so forth. I’ve been saying I think Michelle is a Jackie for the new millennium.

You think maybe they feel sorry for him?

Too cruel! But as much as I admire Gore, I agree that he doesn’t seem to be the most obvious person to appeal to the youth vote.

I don’t see how this helps. Gore hasn’t been in the limelight as much more than a CONservative punchline for a while now.

I think Michelle is bigger than Jackie, tbh. And she is on fire on the trail right now for Hillary

The microphone moment was…BAM!, with just a tap of her finger.

Certainly true. But he’s Mr. Global Warming, for one thing, and he sends the implicit message that the Democratic establishment types aren’t necessarily all bad, the same as the other side, puppets of the blah blah and so forth. And it’s not pandering, at least, like if they just pushed some youngish celeb out on the stage.

The one thing I really worry about with HRC is whether she ends up filling her administration with old trusted friends and their dated policy prescriptions or new faces. Al Gore is a great guy, but he shouldn’t be on stump unless he’s there to keep Bill from saying something foolish.

its the narrative.

He may or may not be used that much as a story device, but his electoral tale (even with that Tennessee loss) is still a reminder of what happens when enough voters go against the grain and choose neither major candidate.

as for the global warming issue, its still not really known if he has lost or retained any substantial millennial support in regards to that issue. All that’s being mentioned by some folks as of today is “hey that’s Al Gore.”

“Most of her strongest supporters have either worked for her or done business with him,” he quipped.

You mean things like that?

@captaincommonsense We had the “punchline” problem when he was running, and because of that and more

@darcy I feel sorry for We The People and hate Scalia simultaneously.
